I feel like there's a giant "You got Punk'd" episode going on. Does the base really think Santorum has a chance against Obama? Mitt Romney should just pull out now and leave the election to these nitwits, so they can nominate someone even more to the right next cycle.
why wouldn't he have a chance vs. Obama? Obama already has over 45% of the country that truly dislikes, if not hates him. They won't change their minds.
will Santorum likely beat him? no but he'd give Obama a run for his money.
BTW if Santorum becomes US president I am out of here
CG's summation of the "logic" behind supporting Santorum: The more people we exclude from "the family", the more people will respect our dedication to "family values" and will vote for us accordingly.
Fortunately Romney is still leading by over 250 delegates after yesterday.
is that fortunate?
It's all relative. But yeah, it is fortunate.
In my opinion. I really can't stand Santorum. He might be a nice guy but I don't need a President whose #1 issues are socially divisive issues.
Santorum is the epitome of what's wrong with the Neo-Conservative movement. They aren't conservatives or cons utionalists for the most part, just a bunch of out of touch religite nuts.
I will be sick if my choice on November 6 is Obama or Santorum. That might just be the first presidential election I skip since I was old enough to vote.
LOL thinking Romney would do any better than Santorum.
the neocons will ride Romney like Kim Kardashian at a BET Awards after party
Romney is gutless. When is the last time he took a stand?
Rove and the rest of the neos are salivating at the thought of having this figurehead in power.
I just went to his "Issues" page... I swear, it's like reading an Onion article.
http://www.ricksantorum.com/issues
Here are the issues in order, and their summary (note, there's about a million of these... I'm not quite sure Santorum knows what an "issues" page is supposed to look like):
First 100 Days Economic Freedom Agenda - More oil!
No More Leading from Behind for America - Muslims bad!
We Hold These Truths - Gays can't produce children so they shouldn't be able to marry!
Unleashing America's Domestic Energy - More (domestic) oil!
Bold Solutions for America’s Families - Magical fantasyland nonsense that I'll never be able to pass! (Oh, and TRIPLE the child deduction for taxes... I bet you Republicans would LOVE that!)
Immigration Reform: Securing And Strengthing America - They derk er jerbs!
ObamaRegs Versus Freedom - Family! More corporate freedom! Together!
Santorum Record on Defending the Dignity of Every Human Life - Abortion = bad!
Appointing Cons utionalist Justices and Judges Who Refuse to Legislate from the Bench - "Activist judges" = Lefty judges = BAD!
Restoring America's Greatness Through Educational Freedom And Opportunity - Dept of Education sucks!
Defending 2nd Amendment Rights - They derk er guns!
Repeal and Replace ObamaCare with Patient-Centered Healthcare - Fantasy nonsense land part II! Now with more ponies!
Spending Cuts and En lements Reform - Taxes = bad!
Made in America - Taxes bad! Family good!
Response to Iran - Bomb, bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran
Executive Branch Actions - Family family family something family
Champion of Faith and Families - Duh
Defender of the Taxpayer - Taxes = bad (on a side note... champion? Defender? Who does this guy think he is?)
Believer in American Exceptionalism - Duh
Enforcing Laws against Illegal Pornography - Really? This is an issue you had to take a stand on?
I think Romney stands a much better chance of defeating Obama. When the primaries are finally over the hard core conservatives will still hate Obama much more than Romney and will unite behind him.
by fare I meant do a better job as president.
wait, are you actually more worried about Obama winning than a Santorum presidency??
Well, there's no way Santorum can actually get any of his bull social issues enacted into law. Obama on the other hand, with 4 more years and not having to run for re-election can do a LOT of damage.
Well, one thing is for sure: If Romney ends up getting the nomination, he will certainly owe NOTHING to the far-right core.
I think that how he governs will be a function of which congress he ends up with. I think he is more like Clinton than anyone we have seen since Clinton, inasmuch as Clinton never met a principle he wasn't wiling to abandon and neither has Romney. I think he will go along with things that Congress wants.
BUT...if Romney runs on a "We need to lower taxes by a huge amount on the top earners in the country, I predict he will get beat with the Obama slogan.."Didn't we try this several times and it didn't work out so well?
I don't trust Romney, but I fear that a second term Obama will see him move further to the left because he won't have to run again and he will try to 'leave his legacy'. That is what W. did (except that he governed further to the right)/
I think that second terms are very scary, because there is nothing to rein them in.
Republican far right conservatives still like mormons better than uppity blacks...
I still LOL at that movie. It has more hysterical politically incorrect laugh lines by far than about ten other movies of similar genres.
so that's a yes?
a crazy neocon who wants to push his religious ideology onto people by force if necessary would be 1000x more dangerous than Barry. he might not enact his social laws but don't forget he is the Commander in Chief. He'd probably start WWIII
Like I said...there's no way he gets his dumb ass social issues through congress and the supreme court.
he might not enact his social laws but don't forget he is the Commander in Chief. He'd probably start WWIII
"Once Iran Has Nukes You Will Not Be Safe In Missouri ..."
