Just so everyone is clear: LA gave up a first rounder with Fish, correct?

It came pretty close to happening in the summer of 1999. I know he won't be able to get the Brent Barry call in a Spurs uniform, but he could be valuable as a shooter in spot minutes.

I wouldn't be opposed to it, as long as it doesn't take any minutes away from Neal, tbh..

He's a scrub. He'll surprise you with a double double every once and awhile, but he's usually a hindrance when he's on the court.

Ok thats what I thought. From the limited time that I've seen him play he seemed to have a good work rate and athleticism. I'll take that.

I think benefactor's on the right track. I don't watch a ton of Rockets games but I've seen a few this season where he looked good and a few where he looked lost. He's got a good motor but it seemed like whether or not he was in a position to make that effort pay off was a matter of luck much of the time.

This is the greatest day of my life
Mine too! No Bull . Loved Fish, still do, but he had a platinum fork in his back. He done.

We just acquired a true pass first PG and kept Blake for the 2nd unit. Bynum and Gasol have to be ecstatic. Now they have two PGs that will look for them on the regular. Two PGs that can throw a simple bounce pass or a simple post entry pass. That's huge!

Fish, for all of his clutchness, was a major disappointment as a defender - even when he was young. I can't count how many PGs have ted on him and got a big contract. Sessions and Blake are both better true PGs than Fish ever was. They are both younger (Sessions by 11 years). Both are better defenders.

You know who else is happy? Mike Brown. He got two PGs to run his San Antonio rooted offense that feature twin towers. Even despite the Lakers rolling out old man Fish, they are perched atop the Pacific Division, and 2 games out of 2nd seed (with SA on the schedule 3 times).

Gone are the days that PGs lick their chops when the play the Lakers. No, neither are CP or Nash or D-Will, but they are solid PGs that will allow the Lakers to consistently play to their strengths: Bynum/Gasol.

Kobe benefits too. He won't have to be the hybrid he's been year after year. He had to facilitate like Pip and score like MJ ever since Shaq were here. Now he can be freed to do what he does: score. This trade may add 2 years to his elite shelf life as well. Let's face it, Kobe has guarded Fisher's man for over a decade. Westbrook (OKC), Nash, AI, Rondo, etc., are just a few PGs that have ted on Fish in the playoffs - causing PJ to put Kobe on them to stop the bleeding.

I love Fish and appreciate all of the daggers. However, because he was inadequate, that was mostly the reason why we were in the position to need to be bailed out to begin with.

Right now, I'm not so afraid of TP when the Spurs come to town - or any other PG, tbh. We have two PGs that are both better than Fish that can combine to give us 48 mpg of solid PG play.

Probably most important: we kept Kobe Gasol Bynum (KGB) together and upgraded the PG position. Damn that felt good to post that !

Everybody will see what I'm talking about in the next few weeks as Sessions gets acclimated to MB's offense.

    Long live MK's magic wand!!

    Athletic, strong, good motor, black

Brick hands, below average IQ, no improvement in the off season.

His development days are over. Eventual 2nd/3rd rotation PF/C for Lakers if you keep him.

I agree, I don't think dumping Fish+1st rounder for Hill is a good move.
