I agree, I don't think dumping Fish+1st rounder for Hill is a good move.
    Will with chemistry at least.

Kobe might go into full chuck mode or team might even explode, but that Sessions trade is A+++.

Mine too! No Bull . Loved Fish, still do, but he had a platinum fork in his back. He done.

We just acquired a true pass first PG and kept Blake for the 2nd unit. Bynum and Gasol have to be ecstatic. Now they have two PGs that will look for them on the regular. Two PGs that can throw a simple bounce pass or a simple post entry pass. That's huge!

Fish, for all of his clutchness, was a major disappointment as a defender - even when he was young. I can't count how many PGs have ted on him and got a big contract. Sessions and Blake are both better true PGs than Fish ever was. They are both younger (Sessions by 11 years). Both are better defenders.

You know who else is happy? Mike Brown. He got two PGs to run his San Antonio rooted offense that feature twin towers. Even despite the Lakers rolling out old man Fish, they are perched atop the Pacific Division, and 2 games out of 2nd seed (with SA on the schedule 3 times).

Gone are the days that PGs lick their chops when the play the Lakers. No, neither are CP or Nash or D-Will, but they are solid PGs that will allow the Lakers to consistently play to their strengths: Bynum/Gasol.

Kobe benefits too. He won't have to be the hybrid he's been year after year. He had to facilitate like Pip and score like MJ ever since Shaq were here. Now he can be freed to do what he does: score. This trade may add 2 years to his elite shelf life as well. Let's face it, Kobe has guarded Fisher's man for over a decade. Westbrook (OKC), Nash, AI, Rondo, etc., are just a few PGs that have ted on Fish in the playoffs - causing PJ to put Kobe on them to stop the bleeding.

I love Fish and appreciate all of the daggers. However, because he was inadequate, that was mostly the reason why we were in the position to need to be bailed out to begin with.

Right now, I'm not so afraid of TP when the Spurs come to town - or any other PG, tbh. We have two PGs that are both better than Fish that can combine to give us 48 mpg of solid PG play.

Probably most important: we kept Kobe Gasol Bynum (KGB) together and upgraded the PG position. Damn that felt good to post that !

Everybody will see what I'm talking about in the next few weeks as Sessions gets acclimated to MB's offense.

    Long live MK's magic wand!!
What? A prime Fish was a beast defensively...hard nosed and tough...and he's more than paid Kobe back with the le daggers against Orlando and with the deftness and heart against Boston for the 5th le....too me that's where it's at - the le games...prime time...sure it's hard getting there buyt once there it was always showtime with Fish...perhaps he's run his course but don't sit here and try to denigrate Fish's contribution over the years...sure he wasn't a top tier guard he was of the cloth of Robert Horry he was there when we needed him the most...and I'm sure Kobe doesn't see his contributions over the years the same way you do. Fisher ran the triangle offense very well in his prime...

Steve Blake is garbage...he's at the same level old man Fish is right now and he doesn't have the age that Fish has.

I'm not buying that Ramon Sessions and Steve Blake is enough to bring home #6...I hope your theory is true but they aren't battle tested and being on that stage can be a mutha er...you saw what it did to Kobe when he realized he was actually going to tie Magic and pass Shaq he dam near ted himself on the court...so no by all accounts these two aren't ready for the big stage...Fisher was...

I'm tired of Kobe having to babysit people...whether it was building up Odom's confidence, helping Ron Ron through his craziness, encouraging Pau to play through his fragile mental state, checking Bynum for his lack of consistency...fighting the front office to get quality help...and on and on and still get no credit for taking these no name scrubs to the promised land...

I hope you are right about these guys but we'll see...

Let's not call Derek Fisher Peyton now. Fisher left the franchise for a cash grab himself when he went to Golden State. The NBA is a business and should be conducted as such, not on sentiment, nostalgia, and emotion.

Class is overrated in pro sports anyway.

I'm not worried about the money aspect...Fish has made ~58 mil over the life of his career. He's set he's fine...this Sessions guy though I'm worried he's gonna be like Blake...see when you step into Staples how are you gonna deal with a ragging Jack Nicholson, a stone faced Mr. Denzel Washington, Sly Stallone, Billionare James Bransom, Kanye West, a smoked out Snoop Dog, Dustin Hoffman, Usher, Lil Wayne, James Goldstein, and many many others...

and to top it all Kobe's presence alone can be intimidating...I hope the dude doesn't his pants when he steps off into the arena...this ain't no ing Cleveland...players either shine or they crack like Steve Blake has.

We'll have to agree to disagree Kool. I didn't call Fish hot garbage - I called him inadequate. Truth be told, Kobe's greatness carried Fish. I didn't denigrate him, I just spoke the truth. There were many other PGs that have dominated Fisher in the past and because of that the Lakers were put in the position to need his heroics.

I got mad respect for Fish but all good things must come to an end. How you feel about Fish is how I will feel about Kobe when his time is up. Kobe's the last don from the 3peat years and has been a major part of every Laker le post-Magic. Fish was a great warrior for us and will be missed, but I'm not going to sit here and pretend that we didn't improve majorly at the PG position.

As far as Blake is concerned, he's no star but he is a solid backup that is highly suitable for the 2nd unit. He often played more than Fish did this year. I think we were like 14-6 with Blake in the lineup and 6-7 without him (something like that anyway). So for him to continue to run the second unit and back up a PG that is better than Fish is right now, is huge.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I've been wanting Sessions in LA since he dropped CP3 off a few weeks ago. 24/13 on CP3. Fish will never do that. He's even averaging 5.2 apg on a ty ass Cav team. I'm expecting at least 7-8 apg from him with KGB as his teammates.

I'm sure Kobe is hurt too. When he sees what a young true PG can do for his chances of passing Michael Jordan, he'll get over it. In time, you will too.

Kool, for once in his chimpbrained life, is dropping some knowledge. You Laker homers are wildly overrating Sessions and the impact he'll bring. He's an improvement, sure, but a slight one. Now the Lakers will lose in 6 in the second round instead of 5.

I ing hate Steve Blake always have...you'll never hear me say a good thing about him...I don't care if he hits the game winner in a 7 game series against the Heat...

I think too that Sessions is only marginally better than Blake and a tad bit better than Fisher...I hope you're right though I really do...I agree that Kobe will get over it but if they digress and show signs of fear similiar to Kwame Brown asking Kobe not to pass to him because he was scared then we're ed....

I will give Sessions 10 games and then I will reassess...

Kobe eats Jackson's ass..check it out career wise guarding each other head to head ( no )

    Kobe - 29 pts

    Jackson - 15 pts

It's even worse in the play-offs:

    Kobe 32 pts

    Jackson 8 pts

Last game they played each other:

    Kobe 28 pts

    Jackson 8 pts..
