I realize I'm not from Texas. I'm a Californian. However, I'm as much of a Spurs fan as any of you and I'm disgusted and embarrassed that there is so much phobic hate speech on this site, particularly about Richard Jefferson.

I have no idea if he is gay or not. I don't care. What I do know is even if he was, it has nothing to do with him being a ty basketball player and a soft one. There is zero relationship between one thing and the other and anyone who thinks otherwise is ignorant at best or a bigot at worst.

Regardless of whether people here mean what they write or it's said in jest, it really has gotten way out of hand and it sickens me, calling the guy a " got" because he doesn't go to the basket or whatever. It's 2012, people should stop thinking this way. You're better than that. Quit embarrassing yourselves, embarrassing the Spurs and embarrassing me.

Let me start by saying I am not phobic in any way. I am relatively certain I have never said anything remotely close to bashing gays here on ST. I will admit though that I enjoy the idea of being able to if ever I so desired. It is the exact reason why I love being apart of this community. Every now and then I read something that leads me to believe the person who posted it is semi re ed, but it doesn't really bother me. I truly do not understand why some of these ridiculous statements are a bother to anyone. Glance at it, quickly judge them to be idiots and move on. If some of these people are going around dragging gays behind their trucks it would upset me. Making half ass jokes about it, doesn't. Either way, move on. I would caution some in their hypocrisy though; if you want to ban one derogatory statement then ban them all. Ban curse words and the half naked woman in many of the pics. What is deemed offensive could be much toooo long for many peoples liking. Doing so would limit something that helps make this site great. In that case, ST would cease to exist. Honestly if you are offended by a single word or what an ignorant redneck thinks of someone you have never met, then both of you need to mature imo.
