Bowen's issues on Chris Paul are from the last couple of years Bowen was in the league when he had obviously lost a step or two. Bowen at 37 is slower than Paul at 24 isn't a surprise The 06 and 07 seasons were a little different though you could see the slowing Bowen resorting to more head games and semi-cheap jabs against quicker perimeter players.

I'm not sure than either Green or Leonard can adequately man guard Chris Paul or any other elite point-guard right now. You've got a guy who is going to be a solid rotation player in Green who is still within his first 82 games as a player, and Leonard who I see as being a borderline all star every year in a couple of years, as a true rookie. So shame in rookies looking mediocre against 27 year old all stars entering their prime. Its how they look against that same match up in 2 years. If they are compe ive they are doing really well.
The best way to slow down Chris Paul is to make him work on both ends. Tony wasn't there to do that.

Green, like Neal, needs to play with consistency. Both of them have some really really good games sandwiched in between some that aren't so good.

I think I've noticed a pattern with Neal where he'll shoot the lights out in one game and the very next game can't seem to hit the side of a barn. (Makes me wondier if he does too much partying after a great game)

When his shots aren't falling, Green has the ability to fall back on his defensive ability--but sometimes both seem to disappear at the same time. With Green, it may be that he loses confidence when his shooting is off and then doesn't fall back on defense to make a contribution.

Sir Charles made a very smart statement on NBA=TV not too long ago when talking about the difference between players with talent that succeed and those that fail or never quite make it. He said it was all mental toughness to work and apply their talent night in and night out that made the difference between players.

Let's hope that Green has it, because he has some legitimate NBA tools that he shows from time to time.

That same type of mental toughness usually separates the stars that post great statistics in the regular season (LeBron, Carmelo) versus the superstars that will their team to another level and win championships (Duncan, Kobe).

I am liking alot of the Spurs younger guys quite a bit. Neal, in a Kerr like role, he's not really a point guard he's a slightly small 2 with a bit of bulk sharpshooter and bench guy. Green a hardworking do everything 2/3, Leonard as a borderline all-star at the 3 guarding the 2,3 or 4 on the opposing team depending on match-ups. Splitter as a quality center averaging around 18 points and 12 rebounds. In 2 years when TD is retired or being Kevin Willis, and when Manu is assistant coach and latin community relations specialist This team will be set for payroll and just needing a superstar power forward to be contenders year in and year out. By then Parker will be slowing down quite a bit should be the seasoned elder a young bigman tends to need for a couple of years. This transition into the future is starting to look fairly good. My one worry is that low draft picks keep that star bigman out of the spurs roster and the money is spent on over-hyped also rans..

The Spurs really need to keep Danny Green. I've been skeptical of him all year but he keeps on proving me wrong... I think his 2 way play could be an asset to the Spurs for years to come. He's just going to get better..

I'm bumping this thread as a reverse jinx, tbh..

Hopefully he turns it around and begins to play like a decent NBA player, I'll happily accept crow..

Well now we know his price isn't going to skyrocket. Let's hope RC learned doesn't offer a four year deal..
