How did Eddie Royal go from 2nd all time rookie grabs to 19 catches last season?

    91 rookie year 2008
37 So what went wrong early on in 2009 season?
    59 bounce back sort of
    19 last season

    Blurbs
Eddie's 91 receptions are second most in NFL history for a rookie, behind only Anquan Boldin who had 101. His 980 yards and five touchdowns are both Broncos rookie records. He was seventh in the league among wide receivers in receptions, and sixth in the NFL in total yards.

Early in the 2009 season, Royal became the 4th fastest player in NFL history to reach 100 career receptions.

On October 19, 2009, Royal became the first player in Broncos history, and only the 11th player to date in National Football League history, to return a kickoff (93 yards) and a punt (71 yards) for touchdowns in the same game, leading undefeated Denver to a 34-23 win over the San Diego Chargers.

Cutler is a good QB and Marshal got all the defense's attention

This too is a huge reason. Say what you want about Cutler but he was a beast in 2008.

Cutler was looking damn good last season too before he broke his thumb. The Bears were 7-3 and had just skull ed Detroit when he went down. They honestly looked better than the team that made the NFC Championship game a year earlier--up until his injury. Then they lost Forte a couple games later and they were doubly ed.

He played a chunk of the year w/o his college buddy Earl Bennett too...he's not that good, but his other options were dane sanzenbacker, johnny knox, and other ty targets. Now he has a boss at WR. Just give him at least 3 seconds to throw the ball and the Bears will be good for 10-11 wins.

Royal is a solid wr. Just needs to find the right team. Hard to post nice #s, when you have had the qb turmoil the broncs have been going thru in recent seasons.

this gonna be the truth test for Phillip Rivers, he's got a solid set or receivers, all above average but no true bail-out #1: Gates, Meachem, Floyd, Royal, Brown. Can he really find the open man, or was he always just throwing it up and hoping his WR would make him look good.

Royal is the most overrated Broncos receiver of my lifetime..

He's a great return man, but he's just a decent receiver..he's soft and he can't block, too..

His first year was a great year with a stat-padding beast in Cutler, in Shanahan's offensively gifted system..

the overrated-receiver-from-one-franchise list? who else is one it?

the Chargers have David Boston, and... Vincent Jackson, and.. that's all I can think of

    Are you serious?
The next ball VJackson fights for will be about his 3rd alltime in his career.
Combined with Norvrons idiotic "take 4 seconds for long winding routes to develop" system, as if the Charger OLine was the '93 Cowboys.
Bellicheat always, always has a 2nd option short dump off guy for TomDoll.

Rivers is great on short slants and Norvron could have feasted with Jackson, Gated and Malkie Floyd doing slants half the game.

Also Gates is now 75% Gates.
Malkie if he can stay on the field is All Pro easily.

or 67%, this is the main part of why I say PR has no bail out WR anymore, and Jackson was a bail-out WR to some extent, he's big, and can rip the ball away from DBs without looking like he's "fighting for it"

but don't get me wrong, Meachem and Royal >>> VJ. PR has a better set of WRs now, even with Gates decline. but I'm nervous, does he have the defensive-reading skills to spread the ball around and always find the open man? to this point in his career, he's always had Gates or VJ to lob it to when the pocket broke down, and there were plenty times when he would lob it regardless of the coverage.
