Wow. Not a lot of players will do that. I salute Derek Fisher. Dude has integrity.
Derek Fisher opted out of the entire $3.4 million remaining on his contract for the 12-13 season, according to a source. Fisher will receive his remaining 11-12 salary in full.
Houston essentially traded Jordan Hill and his expiring contract to the Lakers for a first round pick.
When Fisher clears waivers, he will be free to sign with any team except for the Lakers or Rockets.

He did a Mike Bibby.
Props to these unselfish guys.
Really? Didn't know Mike did the same thing. Was Mike Bibby signed by another team after the buy out? In Fisher's case, $3.4 mil may not be a lot to him but considering that could be his last NBA paycheck as a player, that's an admirable thing to do.
As to a dirty player as Fisher, it means he's rich enough.
anyone ever notice how enormous fisher's ass is?
Not integrity. just got balls.
he wouldn't do that if he is not so rich.
Bibby gave up a 6.2M player option for 2011-12 and then signed with Miami for the remainder of 2010-11 season. He's playing for the vet min this season with the Knicks.
Whoa. never thought bibby is that kind of guy. props to him. $6.2 mil is a lot of money for a guy like Bibby.
Yeah Mike actually doubled that.
He gave up about 6 mils to be with the Heat after Hawks traded him to the Wizards.
EDIT:
Oh didn't realized someone already answered your question. lol
And he still didn't win a ring.
CWEBB wouldn't stay put.
It happens.
6.2M is a lot for anyone, but Bibby has earned over 100M in NBA salary during his career.
excuses are for pussies and assholes
