Link provided is slow to show the deal. Below is a video of the incident.

edit: oh yeah and the vid contains some semi 'passion of the christ' style violence so beware if you don't like watching that type of thing.

Two friends of Derek Madrigal said he was defending a girl's honor when as many as 10 men jumped him Saturday afternoon.
The one person to do the right thing gets beaten to death, essentially, while hundreds of people watch low life s bags have their way with him. They should have received the same from the hundreds of people watching.

    Yep.

That's the weird reality about this.

Thing to think about though is this video was shot after he was stabbed and quite possibly beat down. I believe all those people who were nearby watching this unfold witnessed the stabbing beforehand...making them afraid to even get involved.

The guy who did the stabbing (and got arrested) is a 33 year old from San Antonio. Apparently he punched his girlfriend and then Derek Madrigal -- the guy who got stabbed/beat -- stepped in to help her.

I don't get how all those people just stood around, or why anyone was beating him after he was already stabbed. Horrific.

The guy was only charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Now I'm no lawyer, but wouldn't the attempt of stabbing be cons uted as attempted murder?

Yeah the victim's parents are questioning why it isn't attempted murder.

tbh I've gone to SPI for spring break only twice (while I was in high school) and I remember being near minor verbal altercations between overly intoxicated groups of people... a small scuffle would break out between two people, but nothing like this.

This is a substantially worse video than that truck accident that CC posted. I have some pretty dark thoughts when watching this.

    ing 33 years old?!

The family and I spent Spring Break last year in Port A and although we weren't near the "party" areas of the beach, my sister in law and I took a quick cruise through those spots just to check it out. The college aged kids were abundant as expected, but the only truly obnoxious behavior we saw was from guys who seemed a bit too old to be there and didn't quite fit in. Assholes need to just grow up.

where else can the find guaranteed drunk 16-18 year olds that wouldn't give them the time of day if they were sober?

I bring a knife everywhere. Plus there is even a good reason: cutting lime for your beer.
