Hope Meco can bounce back to form. He was really hindered by the achilles injury and then the elbow. 3-4 wasn't his system, and Cushing was by far the better choice on passing downs. You can't pay $6 mil to a 2-down LB.

Yeah...this was something that had to happen. Between system fit/injury problems and his contract they just could not justify keeping him...especially when they get as good/better production out of Sharpton for a fraction of the cost. Moving up in the 3rd and an extra 4th should yield a couple of solid prospects.

Look at the teams they played while their defense was "improving." The Giants win in NY (Week 11) was the only impressive one. They got crushed by the Pats and Seahawks after that, then beat the Dolphins, Jets, Cowboys (w/o Romo for practically the whole game), and Redskins.

DeMeco played 2 downs. He was not worth the price. This moves saves us 9 mil next year where we need to re-sign D Brown, Barwin, Schaub, Quin, and Caldwell & Butler (who are now both starters). We'll probably also look to lock Cushing up before he hits the market the next year.
