Getting my name on the wall at the Flying Saucer this friday. Not sure if anybody on the board besides Scott (I'm assuming the Freetail plate is his) is up there.

That makes sense. I just felt like an asshole having to YouTube the best/easiest way to open it.

Youtube will, at some point in the future, be deemed the repository of all human knowledge.

When our computer overlords decide that the human species has outlived its usefulness, they will retain the information uploaded there as representative of all human knowledge, culture and devotion to funny cat videos. They will then herd us into the sea, aside from a few lucky zoo specimens.

Scott, the Velocihoptor was amazing in the bombers. I picked up a few the Monday after the release, along with the Bat Ras .

Heard great things about the Younger.

Have you ever tried any of the Hopslam from Bell's out of Michigan. Very comparable to the Elder.

I have not been able to get a hold of any Bell's yet. I also hear their two hearted ale is great.

I was enough of an alcoholic to make it in to the top 10 at the San Antonio location. As with any new place in SA, it was overrun with s when it first opened but eventually it settled into a pretty decent crowd.

If they had better food, I would have made it one of my frequent stops. But since they don't, I don't go by there to much anymore.

Yeah the two-hearted ale is very god as well.

I haven't had much from Bells that isn't good. I do like being close to that brewery, but there are so many great breweries around the country that it seems almost impossible to try them all because of location, etc...

I'm on the lookout every time I go out of state, but have not been lucky enough yet. We just got Bittersweet Lenny's Double Rye IPA by Schmaltz here in Austin, so I am very happy about that. I picked up a 4 pack when I was in New Orleans in January and it is pretty damn tasty.

Heard you on NPR this morning Scott. I fully support your efforts to get a better selection of beer into Saab Antonio restaurants. Btw where is this "Scott's list"that they were talking about?

I've heard that San Antonio has the most expensive flying saucer in Texas.. so I would learn to ignore lol...

    I also haven't had any Bell's..

I have a friend in California that had a Pliny the Younger keg for his birthday recently.. had a friend at the brewery that sneaked it out.

Schmalt's He'Brew line of beers is available in TX now, not sure about distribution outside of Austin atm. The Bittersweet Lenny's RIPA and the Hop Manna are both delicious:

The strong craft/brewing community makes it worth it though. All of the guys at 512, Independence, Live Oak, etc are all great guys.

Apparently the distributor run Austin Beer Festival was a total cluster like the one here two years ago:

It's probably worth skipping tbh, the Houston and Austin ones have been disasters with over 10k people showing up and not enough beer or value. I don't know if Scott knows, but they are using images of Freetail taster glasses and Freetail is not listed as a brewery there.
