Why? Tonight pretty much proved the Spurs desperately need another point guard option.
I've come to the conclusion that we're so stacked Patty Mills could be expendable. What do you guys think? Weigh in.

have you seen our "point guards"? my goodness
Your conclusions don't really matter, because the Spurs have signed him. Hope this helps.
Nay. Manu held down the point okay, but it took him away from his own game, and Gary Neal just looked bad.

Every pair of legs could help
Gary Neal was well below average. So much so, Manu was in the game with under 2 min. to play and a nice lead.
Dude, we are stacked, no doubt... But don't kid yourself thinking that we don't need a backup point guard...
This has gotta be a troll thread, tbh.
We could use him. As we saw tonight Manu was awful at playing pg. First few seconds he was out there he turned the ball over.
Yes.
Being able to get the ball up the court under pressure in the playoffs is critical. I thought we could somehow get a Tony/Neal/Manu rotation in which we would always have two of these 3 in the backcourt. It wont work. I would rather have Ford. Neal is so clearly not a pg. Mills it is.
Manu led the team in assists and was +19 with only 11 points himself. Yeah, he stinks.
Let us not make Neal the RM jr. jr.
Just thinking that.
Well stated.
with that being said, I feel bad for Neal as he's the most likely to lose minutes.
I think Pop's gonna share Green's minutes with him, with Manu leading the 2 and sometimes sjax too
We need him. I can already hear you guys when Tony or Manu get hurt during the playoffs, why didn't we sign him and give him the remaining 19 games to learn or offense.
With Danny Green's recent re-emergence out of his slump things are a little fuzzy again. The reality is that one of either Green or Neal will probably fall out of the playoff rotation (except for spot minute duty or very specific situations). It'll probably come down to who the Spurs think can run the back-up PG reasonably well for 10 minutes a game.
A few weeks ago I thought it was obviously going to be Gary Neal and Green had played himself out of the playoffs. But the last 4 games have been a re-emergence for Danny, and he might be back in the conversation. It's hard to say. But if tonight was any indication, I think I might favor Danny at this juncture.
so that means J.A is inactive come PO time huh?
i don't think he becomes a regular in the playoff rotation if that's what you're asking.
but we do need another PG to eat up some minutes to help us finish out the year. Manu's fine in the role, Neal has his ups and downs - but both have to work much harder when they're running point vs. off ball.
you don't think we could at least go 10 deep in the playoffs since we are imo the deepest team?
