I found this, this was the box score from the last time France played against Australia, it was only from 6 months ago actually.

Yes, TP got the better of Patty that day. But look at that stat line.

the question should not be "do we really need him" but "why wouldn't we want him?" having a guy sitting on your bench who could do that???? a guy with no names helping him going up against TP, Batum, Diaw and Noah????

we are officially the best, deepest team in the NBA when his Visa is cleared.

I've come to the conclusion that we're so stacked Patty Mills could be expendable. What do you guys think? Weigh in.

We could use him. As we saw tonight Manu was awful at playing pg. First few seconds he was out there he turned the ball over.
How fortunate for us then that basketball games last 48 minutes and not a few seconds.

Manu finished with 7 assists to 3 turnovers in 28 minutes against one of the best defenses in the NBA in terms of limiting assists and in FG%. That's pretty good, I think, considering it's not his primary position. He was also at his best in the fourth quarter, when it matters most.

Why? Tonight pretty much proved the Spurs desperately need another point guard option.
Exactly. Neal and Manu running the point tonight wasnt very pretty.....

Fiba assist rules are different to the NBA. they are a lot harder to get, TP only had one as well, and he was dishing to a lot better finishers than the Aussies had

If last night didn't convince you that the Spurs desperately need point guards, then you aren't watching basketball correctly.

If Mills does nothing more than allow Pop to rest TP as we head toward the end of the season, the acquisition would've been well worth it. I certainly don't expect Mills to be active for the playoffs, but who knows?

Gary Neal is not a facilitator. He works better with the ball not in his hands. Where he can run the lanes and receive the pass and shoot. He really doesn't have good bally handling techniques or court vision. Patty Mills is going to fit in nicely. Regardless of size.

With Danny Green's recent re-emergence out of his slump things are a little fuzzy again. The reality is that one of either Green or Neal will probably fall out of the playoff rotation (except for spot minute duty or very specific situations). It'll probably come down to who the Spurs think can run the back-up PG reasonably well for 10 minutes a game.

A few weeks ago I thought it was obviously going to be Gary Neal and Green had played himself out of the playoffs. But the last 4 games have been a re-emergence for Danny, and he might be back in the conversation. It's hard to say. But if tonight was any indication, I think I might favor Danny at this juncture.
My thoughts too. I am rooting for Green, because if he is more versatile too.

Really? How do you figure that?

He shot 2/4 from 2 (50%) and 4/11 from 3 (36%). Thats not bad at all.

And as far as assist numbers - I'd probably chalk that up to the band of no-names he shared the court with.

Manu is good enough, but we don't want him playing PG. Neal did good enough in the regular season for the team to get by... showed flashes, but anyone who thinks he wouldn't get exploited in the playoffs is sadly mistaken. We need Manu and Neal to be at their best if the team wants to capitalize, and that's with both playing SG. Mills is necessary, imo.
