why? this version of pop was sent straight to the tree of woe by LA.

    2003 Pop
58 wins when a 19-year-old Tony Parker is your third best player and you're forced to start a washed up Steve Smith at shooting guard = Greatest coaching job I've ever seen from Pop. His intensity that year was pretty amazing. He literally didn't let TP2 make a mistake without screaming in his face. And in the playoffs, the Spurs gave the Lakers a damn good series even though they had much less talented (the already talent-starved team had a crippled Robinson).

He did great work in 2003 but that team was much, much more talented.

Nice, except I'd have to go with 1980 Gervin because he averaged 33 ppg, and they actually made the playoffs that year.

    ?

1979 Gervin was one win away from the Finals after going up 3-1 over the Bullets in the conference finals. 1980 Gervin was .500 in the regular season and lost the Rockets in the first round, who ended up getting destroyed by the Celtics in the next round.

I'm gonna have to go with Malik rose. I really liked his hustle.

Any answer except D-Rob fails here IMO.

    Top three would be

DRob, Bowen and K Willis. Ninja and Horry are tied for fourth.

I say this in the context of our current big man shortage.

DRob. The only other acceptable answer is Ice.
Crap!!! I was going big, and forgot G-square.

I'm adding either James Silas or Johnny Moore at the point, so our PG depth no longer is an issue.

    The Admiral! David Robinson.

He's always been my favorite player and the all round offense/defense/versatility he brings is terribly missed by this team. Bring back the TWIN TOWERS and get rid of Defensive 3 second violations !

2007 Bonner - used to perfection lol

but seriously, current players I would have to go with Beno Udrih. Only because of our backup pg needs. I wouldn't want to pay him much, but I liked him as a player.

All time - it would be early 90's David Robinson. Him and the Duncan of today would beast the frontcourt

    1. Luis Scola, he's very talented bigman, those are good for the playoffs.
    2. George Hill, he could run the point, play defense, score efficiently, play well from the bench.
    3. Antonio McDyess, he had size and could play defense, not sure if he has anything left in the tank though.
    4. Ian Mahinmi, the Spurs give up on him too soon he has size and some talent, but he still fouls a lot.
    5. Hedo Turkoglu, for a smaller contract, however with Jack, Kawhi and Diaw he's not really needed.

Gooden was a black hole on offense, not sure if he can help. DRob retired in 03, Bowen and Horry must have +40.

    Gervin

Watching Pop blow up over his defense would be great fun.
Gervin with those half close eyes..."I gotcha coach, defense" and then let someone go by and promptly react by hitting a 3.
