    Shaq-Kobe after '00
    Magic-Kareem
    Moses-Dr J

    They were dynamic duos.

Horry isn't in this discussion, he was a role player.
Kobe was a role player when Shaq was around. A great role player, like Pippen, but there's no doubt (at the time) who the franchise, dominant player was.

You can't just dismiss his '01 & '02 rings because he wasn't the best player.
It's like dismissing Kareem's rings because he had Magic, who was the best player for arguably 4/5 rings
Fair enough. How about we try this. These are just a few of the players that TD had to face at his position which happen to be pretty solid defensive players in their careers.

Ben Wallace, Marcus Camby, Kenyon Martin, Dikembe Mutombo, Kevin Garnett, Shaquille O'neal, Pau Gasol, Rasheed Wallace, Arvidas Sabonis, Antonio McDyess, Robert Horry.

That is all I know off the top of my head btw. There are probably more.

Both have 4 championships as a superstar caliber player.
Duncan has the extra Finals MVP, but Kobe's 3 extra Finals trips and '00 ring off sets that, and the fact that he repeated multiple times

that's why I said they can never be compared because is easier for a guard just to shot from the top unlike Tim he had to actually work for his points. A perfect example is Dirk Nowitzki, he's always camping at top of the key for an easy basket.

2, I don't do all that ancillary materiel. I was brought up on ring count because it was at the end of the '60s and I was facing a 50foot tidal wave of the Celtics.

    40 years later, it's imminent.

Yeah I know. I am just trying to show the Kobe fanboys that the quality of defender and type of players Duncan has had to face throughout the years. I look at that short list and see quite a few shot block champions, DPOY's. That was just for him to get his points. He also shot over 50% against players like those in the playoffs. Then you have to add in the fact that Duncan also has to defend the O'Neals, Gasols, Bynums, Howards, Malones of the NBA. Not to mention also defend against slashing guards and whatnot.

Tim clearly has meant more to the team and has been the sole reason for having such a high career win%. He has to do a of a lot more than Kobe does. Kobe leaves a lot of the work for his frontcourt.

What I am saying is simple.

Kobe was the best offensive player for his playoff teams. Duncan was the best offensive and defensive player for his teams.

My vote goes to Duncan as far as better career. He doesn't get to hang out around the perimeter on defense. He has to be there every game on both sides of the court.

    Better as in?

It's easy to drop numbers when you don't have to carry your team and the actual best player on the team is getting double-triple teamed...

Rememba det time when Shaq left and Kome missed the playoffs and got kicked out in the 1st round?

    So, yeah, role player.

Duncan has none as "superstar", whatever that means. All 4 of his are HIM being The Man. Same with Jordan.

Thus the reason Kirby will be remembered as a glorified T-Mac without the back spasms.

You're so butthurt about Kobe. I know he put the dagger in your heart many times. Just let it out.

    That's all you have?

Me being butthurt or not has no bearing on him being a glorified sidekick. When the keys to the team were handed to him, he failed, then he started to kick and scream and requested to be traded.

You do remember that part too, right?

I don't have a problem with Duncan being over Kobe.
I have Kobe #7 and Duncan #8 on my AT list, close to each other.
