Noticed during last nights OKC thumping of the Lakers a play where Kerby Chuck was just being himself -yet i wonder if it's a record even by his standards.

69-64 after Westbrook drained another shot.
Kerby takes it across the half court line. He dibbles the ball across halfcourt and surveys the scene. He is one on one with Thabo Sefolosha on D. Kirby tries backing him down and after about the 10th dribble Kirby self induced loses control. He regains the ball -almost double dribbles- and continues to try to back Sefolosha down. Sefo tips the ball away slightly and Kerby regains contol. Kirby takes dribble #10 11 and 12. Shot clock is down to 8.

At this point Bynum gets around Perk and is in excellent position to get the ball right in the mini arc with Perk completely behind him. Bynum calls for the ball. Another Laker is wide open outside the 3 point arc and is waving his hands wildly. Kerby ignores Bynum, does dribble #14 15 and 16 as Bynum has to bail the paint or else keyhole would be called. Kerby gathers up the ball after #16 and with 5 seconds on the clock tries some one-legged-fall-away with Sefo challenging the shot.

No bailout WWE foul call (Kerby was not touched period but you know in a *Championship* year the whistle and ref blow). The ball clangs off the rim and Durant gathers the board. Bynum no longer had good position at all.
    Bynum looked visibly irritated.

Btw on the night Bynum was 10-15.
    Kirby was 7-25.

I don't think the NBA has an Elias type MLB stat system, but is 16 dribbles on the half court side before a chuck a record? Even by Kobme standards?

What's Kerby? I thought the entire meme was about calling him "Kirby" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirby_%28character%29)

I don't think so. Remember at the end of quarters or games, people wait for the last few seconds and then drive to shoot the ball. Now not in the last minute, maybe.

I got it from another poster.
I thought he posted it in response to the soon to be extinct parrot Girlseppes use of "Jim Duncan".

Eh, I think the guy you picked it up from just made a spelling error from the start. I'm 75-80% confident that the meme = calling him "Kirby."

The racist undertones of "Jim Duncan" are pretty obvious. "Kerby" makes no sense whatsoever, though. It's not a reference to anything.

It's just the ridiculousness of comparing Kobe to a cartoonish fluff ball made for 5 year olds (Kirby) that makes the meme effective. It's more funny to me than anything.

Edit: And needless to say, the fact that Kobe and Kirby kind of rhyme..sort of, is important as well.

Second edit: Yeah, midnight uses "Kirby" (not Kerby) here: http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=193927

Yeah good point. Excluding end of quarter holds where players have legit reasons to hold the ball and repeat bounce.

Think Kirbys 16 is a personal record for him?
    I'll bet he's done 20+ many times.
