Homeless woman's death in police custody stirs anger in St. Louis
The docs really ed up on this one.
I don't understand how that kills a homeless woman ElNono.
Here's the actual link. Very sad, but officers rely on medical determinations by more qualified professionals.
And it may be irrelevant, but why was this woman on the street? The story cites two family members, who apparently are getting ready to sue. Seems odd.
Well, if anyone is to blame, it would be the hospital. Still, you cannot expect perfection, especially if the emergency room was busy that night.
Why didn't she take care of herself before it got this far, and why is it anyone elses responsibility? The human body is complex, and not all symptoms can be properly diagnosed without extensive examination. That is not what an emergency room is for.
As for the family suing... Give me a break. Why was she on the streets instead of with them?
Sorry for the wrong link... don't know how it happened...
How was she supposed to take care of internal blood cloths?
happens. Why is it someone elses responsibility?
Because it's their job.
A doctor is not responsible for accurately diagnosing a patient seeking help in an emergency room?
What's their job then?
Were you there to see what her symptoms were, and how many patients the emergency room had with more pressing symptoms?
Her symptoms are a matter of record. It's not like she wasn't diagnosed.
I don't recall the technicalities, but there is a type of stroke where clots go to the lungs. This can be sudden. Remember the reporter who died this way when we invaded Iraq?
Emergency rooms are not all knowing and don't have the time to deal with all possibilities when someone doesn't appear to be in a life threatening situation. Remember also, she was said to be homeless, and thought to be on drugs.
Real? Excuse?
Who knows, but without being there, who are we to judge?
I bet " happens" will go well as defense for the upcoming medical malpractice lawsuit...
Yes, and unless someone who sees her record and understands, it does us little good. I'll bet the symptoms were similar of some types of drug use.
Which drug use?
Do you understand the limitations of "I'll Bet?"
Oh, so you just made it up.
I see you don't understand.
You didn't make it up?
Explain.
Unless you've changed someone's ankle parts, your talking out of your ass.
Did you read the link?
Can you put two and two together?
