"Former Cavs GM Danny Ferry is being touted as a candidate to run the Wizards when owner Ted Leonsis cleans out his front office, starting with team prez Ernie Grunfeld, after the season. Ferry has been assisting Gregg Popovich in San Antonio."

Ferry's Dad, Bob Ferry was GM for many years for the old Bullets (now the Wizards).

Any bets whether he "takes Danny Green with him" again?

Why would anyone want to work for the Wizards? Dysfunctional franchise...

yes, but isn't it the dream of many managers to turn around a company (franchise)?
Wizards already started to clean house, McGee and Young are gone, they will likely amnesty Blatche this summer, so they got rid of the all bad apples. Wall and Nene are a decent building block and with some luck the Wizards win this years lottery. (imagine, you can combine Wall with Davis and Nene. wow.) and even if not, there are some nice consolation prizes, especially players with a good reputation and intangibles, who will help to turn the franchise around. (like Barnes and Robinson for example)

    Exactly.

Wizards are not necessarily a dysfunctional franchise. They had a good owner in Abe Pollin who was player friendly (perhaps too player friendly) who made some wrong decisions in pinning too much hopes on Gilbert Arenas.

Once the Wizards get rid of Blatche and get a great lottery talent + new veterans, they will be in a position to make noise enough to make the playoffs next season. The East is still too top heavy.

I was thinking they should amnesty Rashard Lewis's abomination of a contract, but he'll roll off in 2013 anyway, and they can be rid of him AND Blatche in 15 months. Rashard is a very efficient offensive player if they can get him healthy. He's not a complete waste of space like Blatche.

Wouldn't shock me to see Ferry go hard after Green AND Anderson to fill the wings there if he takes the job. They have the post and the lead guard pretty much sewn up with Nene and Wall, but they really need wing players and team guys who will defend and space the floor.

Not so sure why anyone would hire Ferry after he built that trainwreck of a roster in Cleveland. Ferry basically laid down the red carpet for LeBron to walk to Miami on.

Man, are you crazy? He built up the possible best Cavs from fillers. He made amazing trades, he lead Cavs to the 60 wins seasons..

Ferry did his best. He just never got that bona-fide second banana.

He built a team starting Boobie Gibson, Sasha Pavlovic, and Drew Gooden. He gave a huge contract to Larry Hughes. Donyell Marshall was a complete bust. His big move to try to keep LeBron in Cleveland was to trade for the corpse of Shaq's career. Then he wouldn't trade scrub-ass JJ Hickson to get Amare at the deadline. Why would LeBron not walk from that awful situation?

Oh yeah, and he threw money at marginal players like Jamario Moon and Anthony Parker instead of being able to land someone decent in James' last year. Love Danny Ferry for his hard-nosed play in San Antonio, but I would never want him building my team.

I think in the Amare trade it was Phoenix that backed out at the last minute.

Yeah like I said he got a lot of small pieces instead of that one big piece that could have put them over the top. He tried Larry Hughes and Mo Williams for that second scorer role which just was not good enough.

Ferry was terrible in Cleveland. (Some say it was because he got undermined by Gilbert ... but who knows.) The worst thing that could happen to the Spurs is if Ferry somehow ends up in charge down the line.

Winning 60 games with LeBron isn't much of a feat. LeBron + 11 random NBA players = 60 regular season wins.

They didn't even win 60 last year with a big 3 in Miami. It makes what Ferry and Mike Brown were able to do with Lebron + 11 NBA players seem pretty good. The Cavs were the dominant regular season team for two years.

It's not like the Spurs are going to say "ok" just b/c Ferry would want Green to go with him to the Wizards! Why would Green want to go there anyway? Especially when the Spurs win the NBA Finals? I could understand a GM or Assistant Coach becoming a Head Coach wanting to take on a challenge of a struggling team, but Danny Green is starting on this team and is an important part of this years teams success.
