From what I understand, the widely covered song, Cocaine Blues is not the one that Luke Jordan did. According to Wikipedia, Jordan's song was called, "Cocaine" or "Simple Wild About My Good Cocaine". Apparently, Jordan was wrongly credited for the song on Dave Van Ronk's record.

If you're going to represent yourself as an authority on something, at least have the courtesy to Google it first to get your facts straight.

The first recordings with different versions were recorded by Ma Rainey, Harvey Hull and Long Cleve Reed, Mississippi John Hurt. John Henry..another tune with various versions on the theme.

"Oh Brother Where Art Thou" introduced the world to this tune. While it gets credited to the Stanley Brothers this is the original. Roscoe Holcomb the king of "High Lonesome" sound records my favorite cover.
