Please.
The man took two quitters (Jackson & Diaw) and rewarded both for quitting & murdering their coach. This was after he took a rapist (Neal) and made him a millionaire. Sure, the girl was no account, but, still.
C'mon.
Reading about the drama in Orlando, NY, LA... with their head coaches people have got to see and appreciate several attributes that make a good coach:
1. Do the players respect and at least buy into the Coach and his methods?
2. Is the voice of the coach old and worn. Are the players just tired of it?
3. Does the coach have the players best interest in mind in terms of the team?
4. Does owner(s) respect the coach and have the coaches back so the inmates dont run the show?
5. Do the coach and GM see eye to eye on player acquisitions etc...?
The answer to every question above is a big YES with Pop. Anyone can dissect instantaneous game decisions, lineups in a compact season from night to night, more playing time for individuals on a team that is now stacked. Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Chuck Daly, never really got "old" in dealing with players. They did however get mentally tired of dealing with players imo. All of these guys knew how to keep the message fresh and believable, even with strange individuals. Popovich has the same ability. We are very lucky to have Popovich. Even if he is an old cranky man.
Look at what NY has gone through the last 15 or so years... a major sports town that has a huge following with an incredibly valuable team. Look at what we got in the same time frame. Jesus we are lucky.

Wow - way to totally skew the spirit of the thread.
'Geez
Pop was lucky to have had two superstars with very little egos other than to win and be team players. If either Tim or David had different personalities and at udes Pop would have probably been gone a long time ago.
tee, hee.
Not much goin' on downstairs.
+ Daddy was y gettin' out on that 3 by Yimmy that time.
tee, hee.
Pop was an important factor in Tim choosing San Antonio over Orlando.
Unless you have proof, shhhh. Both coaches are still alive and coaching.
& in Jackson quitting & murdering his coach.
Just checkin' assholes of an Easter mornin'.
It's going to be a much better board starting tomorrow.
Really Cul, your game is in need of a rest.
+ you won't have to think anymore about Jackson & Diaw quitting.
Hey, at least they didn't quit on you.![]()
So tired...
Hopefully the time away gives you an opportunity to reflect on the pitiful state of your posting quality.
Never had to think about it ever.
Good bye.
Of course not. It wasn't like the two quit on you.

Exactly. They didn't quit on your team. They quit on their prior team and you benefitted from the quit and the murdering of that coach.
Like the girl Neal raped. She wasn't like your sister, mother, or wife. Just no account human debris, in the way.
As a Laker fan, you should know better than to try to argue with this. Just saying.
No. It's a little slow downstairs.
