If he can keep this up then it probably won't matter to me unless there's a match-up reason to bring him off the bench.
He's definitely earned his spot as a starter as of late though. I was very impressed with what I saw of him today.![]()
hes led the team in scoring a few times recently and was the player of the game vs dallas
hes also had huge possesions like the inbound steal vs okc
tonight was a monster game
scored 14 points on 5 shots
4 rebounds
5 assists (could have been more if not for offensive fouls)
2 steals
2 big transition blocks
would you still start green in the playoffs or be in favor of the veteran S.Jack

If he continues on giving these numbers consistently, he'll be in good shape in our rotations.
IMO He's a reserve who can provide a spark plug off the bench. I prefer more proven guys in the playoffs.
I guess but since it looks like at least a couple of those proven guys are coming off the bench anyway, I'm not sure the distinction matters too much as long as Green's not compromising the starters like Blair.

Green is extremely streaky, he has been all season..
Let's hope he's on one of his good streaks, during the playoffs..
He's becoming a Ginobili Lite.
danny green has potential man, if he can bulk up a bit and limit his inefficiencies like defensive gambles....he could be a jax waiting to happen with an outbreak in his career....
It's hard not to be impressed by Green's advancement in the league. I never thought he'd be more than a journeyman, but his improvement is obvious. He's not just a role-player, but with his all-around stats, with some consistency he could be a real stud.
how would u guys compared his current season with ginos, jax, parkers 1st or 2nd year in the spurs system......exceed/avg?
His inconsistency should prevent him from being a starter on a club with championship aspirations. He and the hamburgler should see No more than a few minutes unless they earn It during the game
i was always high on green
last year he was basically D+ 3s
it was a white flag game vs L.A last year infact where he got his first meaningful minutes and he played pretty well hitting big shots and stripping Kome
his weaknesses last year were pretty much dribbling the ball and he had 0 ability in taking the ball to the rim
Pop actually trusted him enough in the playoffs to close quarters out with him taking out RJ for greens defense
In the preseason games spur fans where calling for his head since he was like 0-10 from the field but all his shots came from taking the ball to the hoop, an area where he had shown nothing before
hes even become a pick and roll threat this year and played some back up point when gino was out
this is really his first real nba season, hes shown as much improvement as leonard
I think S.A should start him unless he screws up big time multiple times
they should probably pay a decent chunk to him as well
his career path actually looks exactly like S.Jack up to this point
I see his ceiling as something like arron affalo who got paid this year
Am i crazy to think d green should win most improved player this year also
hes gone from nothing to starting 2 guard on the #1 team in the west
sop res and guys like ryan anderson dont really deserve it
sop res are expected to improve a lot and all ryan anderson has done it get more minutes/launch more 3s

Danny Green has worked his ass off for the Spurs this season. He may not be consistent, but everyone should give him props for the effort he's put in.
Back at the start of the season when the Spurs were on the ropes against Goldenstate Danny came in and gave the Spurs everything he had. That effort still sticks out to me. He's busted his ass for us since then and pretty much been a big factor to help get the Spurs where they are now.
Keep working on your game and keep it up Danny.
He's pretty new in the league too, hasn't really played much until this year. Give him a few years to improve and I think we'll have the starting SG position locked up for years to come. Between him and Kawhi Leonard, I think we could have a pretty good set of 2-way perimeter players for our future. I like the prospects for our perimeter defense with these 2 guys... add a credible young mobile shotblocker to this mix and our over-all defense could be very formidable for a very long time.....

danny green is this years version of trevor arizor contract year....lol whose going to throw the full MLE at him?
A friend recently observed to me that he seemed like a poor man's Manu. Pretty accurate
I don't see why he wouldn't be. He's come up money in almost every big game so far this year.
If I bench anyone for Jax for the playoff run it would be the 20 year old Khawi Leonard, not Green. No way in would I take Green out of the starting lineup at this point.
So Green's the untouchable huh?
Is it because Green + Manu is kind of redundant on defense or what?
They have some similarities (Green & Manu). But I am more worried about Leonard's age and the fact he has been hitting the rookie wall lately. He may not be ready to handle the big time stage at this point. Combine that with the relative inexperience of Green, and it could spell trouble. Let's just say I've got the hook dangling down ready to yank someone out if anything else goes wrong. We know Jackson already has playoff experience and wouldn't be intimidated or starstruck in that role. Green has also showed he is also not intimidated in big games thus far. They would make a great pair of starting wings IMO.
Oh yeah. I never even thought about it that way tbh. You're right I think. Jax has that extra edge to him that the rookie doesn't quite have yet (Kawhi'll get there eventually).
And since our interior obviously won't be ideal, I'd say that having that length and grit factor from the wings will be extremely important to have.
Leonard's been playing a little bit less as of late so it's possible that he's (finally) hit the wall.
Though at this stage I'd be surprised if both Blair & Leonard ended up out of the starting line-up.
Leonard >>> Green..
100% agreed.
We're just discussing the logistics of moving one or the other where the starting line-up is concerned.
Jax + Leonard would be nice but that would depend on whether or not we were facing a bigger backcourt in my opinion.
Green + Jax would be about the right size/speed for most.
Green + Manu is a little bit redundant in my opinion.
Manu + Jax would be fine if we weren't trying to spread the playmakers around.
Manu + Leonard would be fine but the same reason goes behind not starting them.
I expect Leonard to stay as a starter (I'm really impressed with what he's done and he deserves it), but theoretically I think TJ is on to something.![]()
Nickname for Danny Green: Double-edged sword.
He's really great to have around when you need a big play or a steal, but he tends to give up big plays and have huge lapses on defense at times as well. Fortunately he's not going to be the determining factor to whether or not the Spurs contend for a le.
