Meaning...I don't subscribe to what people refer to fame, success,etc...
It means absolutely nothing...it is all a waste of time and energy...chasing money and people's approval because you aren't happy with who you are...
but people aren't ready to hear that...they'd rather keep chasing things...and wasting their lives and their energy trying to obtain things...and praising other people who wasted their energy for a chance to get people to applaud them and approve of them...

You didn't say success, you said fame and wealth. He is both famous and wealthy by any definition. You were using the phrase "so called" in an attempt to sound contemptuous, but you used it wrong. No problem.
