And his words are a problem, why?
Is this really the way conservatives are going to win back independents?

Addressing Bush and other national Republicans, Christie said he hasn't seen a less optimistic period in the country in his lifetime.
"Government's telling them stop dreaming, stop striving, we'll take care of you," he said at a theater at the New York Historical Society. "We're turning into a paternalistic en lement society. That will not just bankrupt us financially, it will bankrupt us morally."
"We'll have a bunch of people sitting on a couch waiting for their next government check," Christie said.
And his words are a problem, why?
This from the guy that had to be driven 100 feet and airlifted to go watch his kid's baseball game using taxpayer money, and bickered for a week until he refunded the state.
Yes, I vaguely remember that.
1) nonsequator.
2) wasn't there a good reason for it?
If you remember the thread, I'll read it and the links again.
I see the point Christie making as valid. We have too many users of tax dollars and not enough tax contributors.
Him being a hypocrite is nothing new.
I disagree both that that's what he's saying and that his point is valid.
The wealthy Wall St porker singing St Ronnie's Welfare Queens in Cadillacs slander.
He also got exposed as lying and trashed recently for cancelling a tunnel under the Hudson. aka, the VRWC's War on Infrastructure.
The $15.6 Trillion national debt disagrees both that that's not what he's saying and that his point is invalid.
That we are spending more than we are collecting in revenue, is indisputable.
Now, where are spending?
Close to 60% of our tax revenues go to programs where the recipients either paid nothing into the program from which they are receiving funds (Welfare, Unemployment Compensation and Health Care) or paid a small percentage of the amount they are receiving back (Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare).
Almost half of all tax filers, in America, pay zero taxes and, some, receive refunds and/or credits that exceed the amounts withheld from any paychecks received over the year. , some refunds rival the amount of income received.
I think Christie has a valid point. There are people who no longer seek to produce income for themselves but, would rather "sit on the couch and wait for the government check to arrive." And, the number of people willing to do that has increased during the Obama administration.
Disagree.
And who wrote, promoted and passed those unsustainable programs: Hypocrite politicians like him. Who kept adding unsustainable programs like those: Hypocrite politicians like him.
Reality check: 91.7% of Americans that can work, do work. And it would be higher if there would be more work opportunities out there. We know. Unemployment has always veered around 5%. There isn't a laziness problem.
An indicator that half of all tax filers, in America, don't make enough to cover the current tax thresholds. Politicians like him can change those thresholds, or work towards better income distribution. Or both.
But they're too hypocrite, like him, to do anything about it, fearing the political repercussions.
Realities: You can't start cashing SS unless you retire or are disabled. You can't qualify for Medicare until you're 60+ or you're disabled. You can only qualify for Medicaid if you don't make enough.
That we have more old people than we did 10 years ago isn't news. The fact that chicken politicians like him on both sides haven't had the balls to address any and all these problems isn't news either.
Government's telling them stop dreaming, stop striving, we'll take care of you," he said at a theater at the New York Historical Society. "We're turning into a paternalistic en lement society. That will not just bankrupt us financially, it will bankrupt us morally."
"We'll have a bunch of people sitting on a couch waiting for their next government check," Christie said.
This is attacking the poor?
Ever heard of "Give a Man a Fish, Feed Him For a Day. Teach a Man to Fish, Feed Him For a Lifetime"?
We'll have a bunch of people sitting on a couch waiting to be airlifted to high school baseball games.
So you don't have a relevant response on the issue. Got it.
How does Obama get to sporting events and the golf course?
lol darrin the hypocrite defending christie the hypocrite.
What's the actual issue? People are already waiting for checks. They will until more employers hire. If there was really more government could have done about that, it would have already been done.
I don't remember his landing next to the playing field of a children's game and disrupting it.
Do you?
iirc he landed near the field..........and was met by a limo lol
It's a fair bet Obama would have walked that last bit; but it was close enough to disrupt the game regardless.
Pretty shameless showboating. I guess excuses have to be made for it by team red.
christie couldn't survive that walk.
No real disagreement with that. I just don't see how Christie's comments (regardless of anything he's said or done) are an attack on the poor.
Sounds to me like he's attacking the lazy, en lement class.
When you add up all the freebies doled out to many of these people, it adds up to a pretty nice income.
Just boilerplate Republicanspeak.
Makes people like Yoni feel good about being class warriors.
VRWC War on Infrastruture:
Gov. Christie Vastly Exaggerated Costs To Justify Scuttling Important Infrastructure Project
The report by the Government Accountability Office, to be released this week, found that while Mr. Christie said that state transportation officials had revised cost estimates for the tunnel to at least $11 billion and potentially more than $14 billion, the range of estimates had in fact remained unchanged in the two years before he announced in 2010 that he was shutting down the project. And state transportation officials, the report says, had said the cost would be no more than $10 billion.
Mr. Christie also misstated New Jersey’s share of the costs: he said the state would pay 70 percent of the project; the report found that New Jersey was paying 14.4 percent. And while the governor said that an agreement with the federal government would require the state to pay all cost overruns, the report found that there was no final agreement, and that the federal government had made several offers to share those costs.

There's not a single mention of "attacking the poor" in the article or it's le. That's on Dan being Dan...
That said, there's also no validity in who he's pointer his fingers at, nor any evidence that "Government's telling them stop dreaming, stop striving, we'll take care of you," or that "We'll have a bunch of people sitting on a couch waiting for their next government check,".
So are people bundling services to receive a 'pretty nice income' from the govt? No offense but it seems like you are making something up.....again
Bad example to give to a liberal. They have this tendency to despise biblical quotes.
