Not to mention Kobe was 3 years younger... and yet still couldn't match Mike's PER then...

Also not to mention MJ played in an era where they didn't baby the guards. It used to be a big man's game, and hand checking/roughhousing was allowed by the guards. Now you can't even look at guards the wrong way and refs blow the whistle...especially Westbrook and Kobe.

    Kobe had more mileage.

And PER is a formula made up by Hollinger

Sad Lakerfan has to compare 29 y/o Kobe to 32 y/o Jordan to make it respectable...

What's even worse is that those 3 Finals were Kobe's peak, while Jordan had his better years already behind him during the 2nd 3peat.

Kobe got more double and triple teams than Jordan. the '90s and '80s were mostly man to man, meaning one on one. Now the great defenses have great schemes designed to limit great scorers. The defenses are not better back then, nor are they better today.

    Kobe had more mileage

More seasons and more minutes = more mileage

    Understand now?

What does that has to do with anything? Those were absolute peaks for Kobe as the man. You take Jordan's peak and you're looking at:

    31/6/8/53efg%
    35/6/6/51efg%
    35/7/6/50efg%

    Which destroys Kobe's peak.

Actually their regular season + playoff minutes come to almost the same, Kobe had a couple hundred more. But that's nothing. So even though their ages were different, their mileage was the same.

And who cares anyways? Jordan's first 3peat is untouched by anybody. Combined with his 2nd 3peat, that is why he is the greatest.

'85-'86 (2nd year) he only played 16-17 games
    Played 0 games in '93-'94
Played under 18 games in '94-'95

That is basically 3 seasons off

Inflated numbers when Daddy was getting all the attention. And still nowhere near as good as Mike's 1st 3peat.

They're barely better, and he peaked then. It's logical a player improves over the years, and at 30 y/o is normally the time where you have a good mix of experience and athleticism.
