Disagree completely. If they get the 1st seed then they could dodge the Lakers in Round 2 (at which point OKC would destroy us), but more importantly they could land a more favorable first-round matchup.
Facing Phoenix would be a 4-0 sweep for SA
Facing Denver would be 4-1
Facing Dallas has the potential to be a nightmare.
If it's 1-8 SAS vs PHX then the Spurs will breeze into the WCSF.

The Spurs are retaining the #1 seed win or lose tonight, they have a 2 game lead over OKC, and have 4 very winnable games afterwards.
If the Spurs would want to avoid the Lakers, you could even argue they should tank today's game to lock LA on the #3 seed and put them on the other side of the bracket.

This, though I think even if the Lakers drop their game against the Thunder, the Clippers will lose at the Hawks and Knicks to give the Lakers the 3rd seed. , they might even blow it to the Hornets with how well they've been playing.
