seem more than that. Lakers are pretty dangerous when Artest plays inspired ball. Take him out of the equation and lakers are pedestrian borderline playoff team. Round 1 fodder imo.

I'm wondering whether the amount of time they are taking in deciding is a good or bad sign for MWP. On the one hand they could be letting him off a little lighter than some might expect and they are using the time to put together their decision in the proper framework of other set precedents so the public isn't too pissed with the decision. On the other hand they could be using that time to carefully craft their response so when the do drop the hammer they've got a convincing argument in the face of the inevitable players' union appeal. TBH I think the biggest reason was to wait and see just how big and bad the media circus would get around this incident. I'm sure the league was holding out just a tad bit of hope that the dramatic finish to the game would absorb some more attention than it has.
IMO they're going to shut him down for the playoffs. If the standings hold as they are LAL/OKC is a second round matchup barring any upsets. If that happens the league needs it to be all about Kobe vs. Durant and not about the refs having to call the entire series insanely tight out of fear that things could get out of hand if the game gets the least bit physical.

What the NBA cable news & talk radio are saying is that Stern & staff will interview the referees, MWP, Hardin, maybe some coaches…Get a feel for what was happening at the time, look at footage & possibly try to reach a verdict based on what previous penalties for elbowing above the shoulders has drawn…Stern needs to show that he is serious about the concussion issue & protecting players…In any case every incident involving MWP or Ron Artest is new precedent for the NBA….
Peace was clearly out of control but I hope that the NBA does not take into account the mistakes of Ron Artest…This would be unfair since the two players hardly even speak to each other any more….
2-3 games. It would have been more if it were the regular season but the playoff game suspensions will carry more weight.
