when asses like that start mentioning ratings, its not that they don't believe the spurs could/should win the championship. they just don't WANT the spurs to win the championship.

they have no argument and just don't like the spurs for no REAL reason.....which makes me wonder who pays these morons for there SUBJECTIVE takes?

1. Anyone who watches this show is a moron. It's designed for people to debate with Skip. For all you know Wale loves the Spurs but producers told him to act like he thinks they suck so that he can argue with Skip, which produces "compelling" TV. I'm almost positive some producer fed him that "cute" line just to mock-enrage Skip, just as I'm positive they told the dumb blonde to lay it thick with how the Spurs bore her. It's all for show. Everyone on the show is suppose to be anti-Skip's opinion. The format is designed for it to be his opinions vs. the world.

2. Even if Skip is technically on our side, you people have to realize he isn't a Spurs fan for the right reasons. He's a contrarian. His viewpoint will be to always go against majority opinion. He only "likes" the Spurs (or pretends to) because everyone else hates them. If everyone in America loved the Spurs, Skip would like the Lakers, so please stop giving him credit for being on our side. It's just all shtick.

They argue just for the sake of arguing at times, but Skip honestly knows his stuff about the Spurs. He has repeatedly thrown ESPN and First Take under the bus for not talking about the Spurs more. He knew Splitter's value to the team going into the season, he knew how important the acquisitions of Diaw and Jackson were to this team, he applauds Tony for the best season of his career. He says he watches many of the Spurs games and I believe him.

I think that Skip gets in trouble when it comes to football. But when it comes to basketball, I can honestly say he knows his stuff.

Many buy into the "NBA is rigged" theory; that the league specifically favors large market, good ratings teams with favorable scheduling, and even in game officiating to bolster their chances at advancement. If the Spurs are all but guaranteed to deliver historically low numbers, then that bias will be exaggerated. That could give a conspiracy theorist (or, in fact, a conspirator - dude works for ABC after all) reason to expect causality between low ratings and a chance of success.

Well he is riding us all the way to the Finals then he has Miami. But, that was his preseason pick. I think deep down he knows we could beat that Miami team right now. He just wont change his preseason pick. He is absolutely right that the Spurs are playing better than anybody right now and it is all about keeping the momentum going in to the playoffs.

"well they were #1 last year and lost in the first round." this whole "last year" argument is completely bogus. by that logic, everyone should predict the mavs to win the championship because they won last year. this spurs team is very different than last year. green, splitter, diaw, jackson, leonard. it just so happens we balled in the regular season. that shouldn't be considered a bad thing

I agree. It is easy to say we are deeper this season, but if you look at each position and it's depth we really are. Every player from last year is just playing better this year, especially toward the end of the season. Just like Skip said "no team is playing better than the Spurs right now." Everything seems to be clicking, and there is no reason to believe it will stop barring an injury.
