M...
Oh...wait...![]()
Let me guess your take... Mexico wins gold?![]()
and BTW, where did I put any prediction to be jinxing them?![]()
You think everyone's a homer like you?
I'd be thrilled if they placed, it depends on who they end up getting from Europe and how they play after that.. I've been skeptical of this team from the beginning... and other than Honduras I don't know how the rest of the world is playing for this tournament.
You can right off the European teams straight away.
Spain doesn't have a great team on this category? Some scrubs plus Xabi, Iniesta and Fabregas has to be scary good...
They will be at Euro 2012.
Why does the Olympics limit their players to U-23 only? What's the point of killing for qualification if you're not going to showcase the best?
It's the club v country struggle. Players are already involved in the Euro this summer. Add to that World Cup Qualifiers, World Cup, Euro qualifiers, Copa America, friendlies, etc., just too much football in the summers.
FIFA already hosts the U-20 and U-17 World Cups, so they created this in between category to stop the Olympics football tournament becoming too important (all the money produced in the Games goes to IOC). IOC wanted a tournament full of seniors once pro athletes were allowed into the Olympics, but FIFA was quick to find another solution.
Also, football in the Olympics has never been the star, and it only matters to the nations that do qualify and send a team to win a gold medal, which usually it's no more than 3 major nations per tournament. Argentinians and Italians did give a in 2004 when they send good teams, but Brazilians didn't because they failed to qualify. This time is the other way round, the football tournament will have very low ratings in Argentina and Italy but will be watched by Brazilians, specially since the gold medal is the only silverware their national team lacks.
I just can't get interested in it the same way I'm interested in say Olympic Basketball. Probably because their are other more prestigious tournaments (World cup/Euros/Copa America etc.)
I'll still give it a watch and be depressed that Bale was born west of the border.
double post imo.
FIFA doesn't want it to overshadow the world cup. imo.
All roster's submitted.
I'm hoping for a top 4 placing for Uruguay.
With Cavani, Suarez and Ramirez as forwards at least the offense should score some...
I think Brazil takes the men's tournament, USA wins the women's.
Predictions?
Gold: Brazil
Silver: Spain
Bronze: Uruguay
4th: Mexico/Egypt/Great Britain/ Switzerland/Japan ?
Not feeling good about Mexico being top 4 atm, although they are "predicted" to be 4th.
Suarez Hat Trick, Cavani doppieta and Abel Henrandez on a warm up vs. the Chile local team 6-4 win after 90 (horrendous D by UY)
The O looks promising...
Nice to finally see Giggs in an international tournament.![]()
Britain
Giggs over Beckham
So are these warm ups we are seeing right now?
Spain U-23 is losing to Senegal U-23(?) 0-1
Yeah.
Mexico is playing Great Britain, Spain, and Japan on the 15th, 18th, and 21st.
1st game won't be televised because GB didn't allow it.. s
So good ol firstrow won't stream it? Or are you saying it's just not going to be in Univision/Galavision/Telefutura or whatever.
I mean not televised at all so no streams either. At least that's what they're saying. On Fox deportes they were saying that FMF was fighting to televise it but Great Britain wouldn't allow it.
edit:
Apparently it's going to be a "closed door" game..

is Great Britain afraid they'll lose and people will panic?
