The record is 12, held by the Duncan Spurs and Magic's Lakers from 1979-80 through 1990-91.
The Spurs have a chance tonight to make it 13 straight seasons of 50 or more wins (53 actually).
Anyone know the record?
The record is 12, held by the Duncan Spurs and Magic's Lakers from 1979-80 through 1990-91.
Warriors fans are begging for a loss tonight, and Golden State has blatantly tanked games in the final minutes (GSW vs Lakers) before.
They'll try to keep the game compe ive and close, but don't worry, they'll willingly give us the game at the end.
The Warriors can actually drop into a tie with Toronto, and gain a few more ping-pong ball*s - so it's worth their while to tank.
*Actually, it's numbers, not ping-pong balls. But I think the difference between a tie for 7th (with Toronto) if they lose, and a tie for 8th if they win (with Detroit), increases their chance at the #1 pick by about 50%.
If not for labor strife, it's the Spurs' record anyway.
so the Spurs would set a new record. awesome.
yes, but if they get 7th, the only way that they lose their pick is if someone ranked 8th or above jumps them in the lottery. If they get 8th, the only way they get thier pick is if they win one of the lottery spots. 7th is doubly good for them. If they settle in 8th, then their reward for the 8th best record is the 29th pick that they paid 11 M for.
They will elevate throwing a game into an artform tonight.
Also, if we break it, we will own the record for at least 11 years.
It's 50. We only won 50 in the 2009-2010 season.
Should already be 13 if not for the 98-99 lockout season.
I'll be REALLY upset if we lose this game by just a couple of points and blow our chance at continuing the 50-win streak.
Will be amazing to reach 50 in a lockout shortened season. Everyone thought the streak of 50 would surely be over. Let's hope our bench and role players get us over the line tonight, that would be an amazing achievement.
Shouldnt it be 15 x 50? If you go by % from the lockout shortened season of 99. Make it 15 with an asterix lmao
True. The Spurs would have easily won 60+ that year anyways.
I am glad we got that 50 win mark doesn't mean a lot in the larger scheme of things but another record for our team breaking a tie with the Fakers
50!!!
Pretty impressive considering at least one of the Big 3 sat out every other game.![]()
Great record. Almost like the Cowboys' 20 consecutive winning seasons from the mid-1960s-mid-1980s. Consistency.
The record itself is meaningless in that we get a couple games handed to us pretty much to get there, but it's meaningful in that consistency over that span to never miss the playoffs and to win at least 50 games each season takes a load of something, luck, talent, coaching, who knows... and it's meaningful in that there were only 66 games this season, but then it could be an indicator that the Spurs have mooched off the playoff teat for years without being serious contenders while other teams probably would have blown it up.
Either way, better us than them.
No. Fifty is fifty. How can you say you won 50 games when you didn't?
They forfeited a couple along the way, too. 50 wins in a 66 game season is pretty stout. I might be less impressed, if not for the three double-digit win streaks along the way, the two b3b sweeps, and the ass-kicking they delivered during the rodeo road trip. Not to mention playing through the adversity of losing Manu for so many games. This team has been damned resilient.
