gotta love the #50
Should have been around in the 80's when we got bounced out of the playoffs every year. That was a difficult decade.
I think I read McDonald saying yesterday that winning our last game would be the 1st time the Spurs had 3 double-digit winning streaks in the same season...
Now this is pretty awesome, whats crazy if Pop didnt tank those few games those streaks would have been longer.
And it would be more than 50 wins in a 66 game season. Pretty impressive, even with me not liking Blair in the starting lineup and Bonner getting too many minutes, that is damn good. Where could we be, 55-60 wins out of 66?
It'd be nice to continue our current streak deep into the playoffs.
The reason is probably because Pop tanked those games. He tanked those streaks right when they were around 10.
Per McDonald, the Spurs had one 10-win streak and two 11-win streaks this year. First time for Spurs (not sure about other teams).
Other crazy stat: the Spurs started the season 12-9. Which means they finished 38-7, or a 84.4% w/l ratio. That's the pace for 69 wins in a normal season.
Iirc, the last team to accomplish that (3 double digit wins in one season) were the the '01 Lakers.
I think the fans that will appreciate it the most are those of us who were Spurs fans pre-1999. Not to take anything away from fans who started following after the first le, but those lean years before really make me appreciate such an extended run of success that much more.
I echo your sentiments: Damn proud of this team![]()
I wonder: when was the last time a single team had the three longest winning streaks in the league in a season?
Apparently, there was never a three 10 game winning streak in the same season ever.. But that does not say much.. Some teams like Chicago experienced winning streaks of 18 and 13 in the same season.. and that accounts for a total of 31 and therefore 3 splits of 10 each in one sense.
It is a meaningless statistic therefore.
Wow, I'm stoked and impressed!!
Awesome! Proud Spurs fan here!
What a great season finish. Now go get that Fifth LOB!
... and the lakers had one winning streak of 33 which accounts for a total of 33 and therefore over 3 splits of 10 each in another sense.![]()
50 win sextacy
It looks like you have an issue with the concept of streak.
I'd agree 20+ and 10+ would be more impressive. However 10+ games streak are already quite rare, 15+ are really uncommon.
FRACKIN' INSANE! I am lov.ing it!! Proud, proud, proud Spurs fan over here! Uhhmm-HHmmm.
Go Spurs Go !!!!!!!
