This whole thread got me curious about how fast I could now run the 40yd at my age. But since I don't have a clear 40yd of space at my office, I marked off a 2 foot track and timed myself. I figure I was able to move my foot from start to finish in about a quarter of a second. So, this would put me my 40yd time at 15 seconds.

With a 4.5 you could rob that convenience store on the corner and make it safely to the car before Akmed makes it around the counter to beat you with a broom.

Being able to cut, stop and start and maneuver at a high % of someones max is far more important than just running a 40. When does anyone just run down the field?

    However...

The more speed someone has entering the league the longer they will have speed.
    Thanks for science Professor Peckerhead!

    Dude, you can't even tell a 100m time from a 100yard time

I'm calling bull . I ran a 4.6 as a sophmore and I was one of the fastest kids on the field. I quit football because I was too busy chasing girls. There were a few guys on my team who ran 4.5x but they were seniors and busted their ass. They were rarely caught from behind.

There was some guy at East Central who was a corner that ran 4.2x. This was back in like 2002.
