This current win streak includes 12 straight times that the Spurs have scored over 100 points.

Unbelievable as it may seem, but this is first time in Tim Duncan era, that the Spurs have had 12 straight games over 100 points. The last time the Spurs scored over 100 points in at least 12 games was 1996( 13 games), the year before DRob missed most of the season with his back injury. So, it follows that a Pop coached team has done this only one time before this current streak.

Spurs have a ways to go before they match the Ice led teams in the 80s. They scored over 100 points 44 straight times in one stretch. Spurs need only 35 more to break their NBA record.

Sorry for this useless bit of trivia, I was bored so I just was wondering if this streak was as rare as I thought it was.

    ....more useless trivia:

    If I counted right,

2003-2004 Spurs won 17 in a row before losing 4 straight to the Lakers.

Yeah, this could have an '04 vibe if the Spurs lose their swag, but (like in '04) the Spurs just seem to be playing to well to lose a 7-game series to anyone.

After the Spurs went up 2-0 in that series, I don't know anyone that thought the Lakers had much of a chance at winning 4 out of the next 5.

definitely will be a similar vibe if we get to that point...

If not for the 0.4 Bull miracle shot, the Spurs would have won it all that year.

Yes, what happened 8 years ago is certainly indicative of what will happen this season

My trivia not so useless, it just goes to show what a drag TD has been on our offense the last 15 years. It takes a bunch of youngsters to finally get our offense out the mud.

Crazy stat....along with the high double digit point differential. Amazingly, some of the games in this streak we sat out the big three or played them minimal minutes.
I wonder how long this streak can go? Maybe 16? It's not going to be easy, but sweep the Jazz and the first two home games of the next series.

I actually think we can sweep the first two series, (18 in a row!) especially if the second series is the Grizzlies. I think the players, particularly the big 3, probably want that matchup. Payback time!

IIRC wasn't Boston the last game the Spurs played that was close in the final minutes? I mean at full strength.

The Lakers were better that season tbh. I think they would have won games 6 and 7. The Lakers had more talent, and after game 2 Phil Jax figured out how to contain Parker.

It just highlights the importance of making adjustments in the playoffs. If the Lakers hadn't made the adjustments they would have probably lost. Strategy changes don't necessarily win the games for you but they give you a much better chance.

You'd probably like the stats data on this site: http://hoopdata.com/teamff.aspx

The one set of data points I like best is the category of offensive efficiency vs. defensive efficiency which shows the difference between point scored vs points scored against us. In other words the separation between your offense and the other teams. The more separation, the higher the score.

As of 4-26, the end of the season, the Spurs had climbed to a close second place behind Chicago in that category at 7.9 points per game. Not bad for a team without one of its top players for most of the year and which rested it's starters more than most teams.

Now streak is 13, which ties Spurs' 1996 feat.
