Utah was in top three on BOTH offense and defensive stats posted on nba.com and in top ten of Hollinger's stats: http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/teamstats

They also were 13 in overall power rankings and above Dallas for one.

Not buying the Jazz that weak of a team they ran into a Spurs buzzsaw at home and the Spurs are just rolling right now over the league and threatening to continue to do it the deep and talented squad playing this hard.

The Suns and the Rockets would have given the Spurs a better challenge. The Jazz lucked out by having a cakewalk schedule to end the season.

The Jazz aren't ready for playoff basketball. Oh, and the Spurs are just kicking ass everywhere.

Well, Jazz are 11-22 on the road and 25-8 at home this year.

Before gloating about Spurs greatness, let's see what they will do in the next two games at Utah.

Disagree. Jazz just aren't very good. They had a couple of decent stretches during the season but looking at their roster, there isn't much to support them NOT being a weak team. They remind me of the second tier teams in the east...Atlanta, Indy, Philly...

Lies, damn lies, and statistics. Very selective stat picking to support your conclusion.

Easy now...The Jazz look like a team that just barely made the playoffs...which they are. They are happy to have done that. The road games will tell us more about the Spurs. Baskets will only get tougher as the compe ion improves.

No, Jazz are just an inferior opponent. This still feels like regular season. No idea yet how good (or not) the Spurs really are.

Jazz are not granted not as strong so far on the floor as their seaonal stats portend, but in reality of the teams 6-10 in the conference this year only the Mavs had championship cred, albeit without the DPOY or Barea. The Jazz have at least 2-3 players that were expected to give the Spurs problems but the bottom line is that so far the Spurs just are outplaying all of them with collective greatness. The Jazz are a better team at home yes but that is expected with a team that was good enough to make the playoffs.

Bottom line is the Spurs might well be hammering all the lower seeds except for the Mavs that always play the Spurs tough and while the Jazz will play better at home the Spurs have been also the best road team in the league as well since the ASG.

jazzs home-road record tells you either

    the get lots of homecooking
    the are mentally weak

i think its both as we saw last time we played them
theyll probably be able to keep the game compe ive by being allowed to go over the back and push off for rebounds
and harris will get all his touch fouls

You should expect a 1 seed to be far superior to an 8 seed. That's what hurts so much about last season.

I'd say these stats would be relevant if the game had been close. spurs playing bad = 16 point win. Spurs playing only one half = 31 point win.

In Game 2, the Spurs reserves managed to keep a 30-point lead against the Jazz starters. If Pop had played everybody with the foot on the gas in the 4th, it would have been the worse blowout in Jazz history.

I'm not sure playing at home negates THAT much.

And Manu hasn't even got a decent game yet.

What hurt so much about last year is that Memphis could have finished higher than the 8 seed BUT they wanted us and felt good about dropping.

They were the best 8 seed ever.

That's why I want us to face them in the next round. They are disciplined and play good defense. If we can beat them it will prepare us well going forward.

Let's see how they deal with a less than 100% star in Zach Randolph.

The Grizzlies wanted to be healthy for the playoffs. It's the same reason Pop held the big 3 out of the last 2 games. What would have been the point if they played those last two games for a higher seed and Zach Randolph got injured? They ensured they were healthy and they got a matchup that worked to their advantage.

The only teams that can really stop the Spurs are good defensive teams like the Heat. Teams that try to outscore them are probably going to lose. But if the team has good defense they have a chance. That's why the Jazz have no chance. Their defense just isn't good enough. Having lots of rebounds, blocks, and steals doesn't necessarily mean you are a good defensive team.

Inferior was a terrible word choice. Inferior is a comparison. The Spurs being a lot better by definition makes the Jazz inferior. If the Spurs had a prime duncan, the jazz would be even more inferior.
