It always amazes me how complimentary role players on teams sometimes turn to complete when they leave those teams.

Before Kobe, he was a talented weed head that underachieved. The Clippers didn't even want him no more. Then he came to LA. Kobe turned him into a 2x champion and 6th man of the year. Without Kobe, well, this is what you get. I mean, many on this board had mad jokes for us trading him away "for nothing." it was was taken as fact that Cubes got the best of MK - who learned his craft from the best GM in NBA history. We traded away LO and acquired pieces that fit in Sessions and now: Hill. Hill gives us a rugged player to augment Bynum and Gasol - unlike Murph and McBob.

The Lakers had a slow start and many hiccups throughout this shortened season as MB purged the Triangle out of their system. Well look at us now. We are arguably better right now than our 2010 championship team - and definitely better than last year. We're the team nobody wants to play right now. Even without the 6th man of the year.

So for those of you falsely believing that Kobe doesn't make other players better, look at what happened to Odom when he was exiled.

Smush Parker and Kwame Brown are two living statues of this...well if Smush Parker is still alive.

VQ - this is a truth bomb. I love it how people conveniently forget just how terrible these two players were. They started for the Lakers. Look at this :

    Smush
    Kobe
    Luke
LO - very inconsistent at this stage of his career
    Mihm or Kwame

^ This was the tiest starting lineup in Laker history. And we were still a lucky Tim Thomas 3ptr away from upsetting the stacked Suns that year. BTW, it was LO (inconsistent blockhead) that didn't box out - which lead to TT's 3ptr. I think he did the same against Dice a few years later. The Spurs won that game IIRC in the last few seconds.
