Cases:
1994: 1. Seattle lost to 8. Denver. Houston won the championship.
1999: 1. Miami lost to 8. New York. Spurs won the le.
2007: 1. Dallas lost to 8. Golden State. Spurs won the le.
2011: 1. Spurs lost to 8. Memphis. Dallas won the le.
We could have Chicago losing to Philly.
Just sayin'
nicely done.
It certainly all looks good.
Coach Re is staying out of the way -so far.
I think only the Heat could derail us and if Re plays the Splitter-Duncs combo we should TallBall them to death.
It's going to be a rude awakening when Pop retires.
Since he played Splitter and Duncan together in game 3, that would be the exact opposite of staying out of the way. Same goes for Pop controlling minutes played the entire season. The exact opposite of staying out of the way. Other than that, I agree with you that all looks good. Good talk.
This...such spoiled fans...never seen anything like it. Do you guys remember John Lucas? Bob Hill? Jerry Tarkanian? We have one of the top 5 coaches of all time on our bench, the Coach of the ing Year (and would have gotten more if the Spurs weren't expected to win a lot more, which is partially because of him as well), and you guys still talk about him. Fabbs..you're an idiot...and you should be hung up by your ing toenails.
No correlation whatsoever to Duncan/GNob/Parker/Bowen retiring-slowing wayy down.
Another tea and crumpet please. With a cup of Coatail tea.![]()
Even if you don't agree with some of the things Pop does, calling him Coach Re makes you the re . If you think he is anything less than the best coach in the NBA you just dont know your .
^^^This.
And I'm sure Pop had NOTHING to do with getting Parker and Ginobili in the late first round and turning them into future HOFers, and turning a journeyman like Bowen into a man with his jersey in the rafters.
Guess you don't know Fabbs...this comment wouldn't have been necessary if you did.
The best coach in the NBA.
2008
2009
2010
2011
How did the coaches facing him in the playoffs fare?
^^^^^This.
So let me get this straight...when Pop gets 4 rings with a small market team and coaches players to WAY above their talent levels, it's got nothing to do with him, but when the team loses, it's got everything to do with him...does that about cover it?
Pop: Fabbs..you're one funny er, you know that?
![]()
So out of curiosity, what coaches would you pencil in for winning les with our roster (and injuries) those four years?
We've been there done that many times on ST.
I see someone started a thread now for lauding Popped as the best coach in the NBA. Good.
I just want another legit Championship so hope he continues to stay out of the way in 2012. Back to the OP, it's looking good.
And here is Avery Johnson. "You've got followers who applaud your giving up Champ teams in favor of Mike Finley-Matty Bonner-Soft at the SF/PF spot?
Want me to do one for each year?![]()
Who cares about that?![]()
You still haven't answered my question. Why is it that when they lose, Pop is to blame, but when they win, it's not him? Where are Avery's championship trophies? Jerry Sloan's? Don Nelson's? In your opinion, where does Pop rank as far as best coaches ever?
He hasn't won a le with anyone else's roster. Why would he have won one with ours?
Well it will happen. Back to back years of 1st seeders getting knocked out of the first round by an 8th.
Every year we won the last game of the Finals, we won a championship.
If we can do that this year, I think we have a puncher's chance.
We also seem to have a really good championship record when we win at least 16 playoff games.![]()
Never really looked at the COY trophy before. Just a tad out of focus makes it look like Red's been bronzed while dropping a deuce.
