I have been saying that this is the phone to get. It has so many advantages over the S3, I am not sure why anyone is even looking at samsung this cycle

what is better? Yes I have an HTC, but I believe that Samsung may have had a better phone this past generation. However, I can't find a single thing that is better on the Samsung this cycle. Please, enlighten me. (honest question, not trying to start an HTC v Samsung smack war). I am not buying this round anyway, but am curious.

Think he was referring to compared to apple victims.

But what exactly are the advantages of the One X compared to the S3? To me, they're basically a wash.

Better screen, substantially better camera, general build quality are the major advantages.

Beats throughout if you care (I don't, but I know that is a big advantage to some people).

Screen is better with the RGB display but I wouldn't call it substantial. HTC's camera absolutely top notch, agreed.

Build quality? Ehh that's always been a critcism I haven't liked of Samung's phones. Criticism has bascially always boiled down to "it feels plasticky" rather if the phone actually has good build quality (longevity, able to resist wear and tear and damage). I know my S2 had "plastic" feeling, but it's a tank, tbh. I mean this might sway a buyer depending on your tastes, but it's more aesthetics than actual build quality issues.

The One X doesn't have expandable memory, the Exynos is better than the Tegra 3, and personally I find the Touchwiz upgrades more intruging than Sense (won't matter of course if you remove them both).

I'll likely sit out this year's offering anyways, but I can see why this will be a close battle between the phones.

The one X across all carries in N. America as the Dual-Core S4 (it's not just sprint). This is because the Tegra 3 and the Exynos did not have the foresight to cast an LTE radio onto the die. They would suffer horrible battery life if they just put the exynos or tegra 3 into the phone and had to add a seperate lte radio.

Also, you describing it as "neutered" means you didn't read to much into it. Both the tegra3 and the exynos are Cortex-A9 quad core devices, while the S4 is a Cortex A-15 dual core device. Across multiple benchmarks, the S4 holds a slight edge (wins some, loses some, but wins slightly more). The A-15 architecture is just that much more efficient. It is actually a boon (or at worst, a draw) to those phones that they are getting "neutered" with dual core.

I was referring to the s3 being neutered. in either case having a big media event and then trying to slip by saying NA version will be different is just scheissty

Not sure I follow, how is the s3 being neutered? The chip? If that is what you are talking about, both the one x and the s3 will be using the S4 in N. America.

I just think it's ty to spew about quad core in your event then let it slip North American customers won't be getting it. Regardless of performance, quad core gets people's ears perked up. This is strictly my opinion.

Ah, ok. I will agree that I don't know why samsung would introduce a new chip and have it not have an LTE radio on it, but at least the two chips are comparable performance wise.

Maybe there will be a way around it, but the one x bootloaders are locked. Also, no removable battery. I just bought an s2, considered returning it for the one x, but nah.

Would have waited for the s3, if I lived in Europe or Korea anyway. As it is, neither is a significant upgrade over the s2 line, especially the skyrocket. Which is a shame. Both the one x and s3 should be nicer than they are.

HTC blames At&t for the locked bootloader so this may not be a problem for sprint. HTC also says that there is an official unlock on its way. However, there is a guy who says he has found a way to unlock it and is in the process of testing it. Obviously take all of that with the requisite grain of salt. I just recently started using a backup battery on my e3d and it is nice but not a deal breaker especially with the 2150 mAh battery in the one x (sprint).

I am curious as to what features you would prefer to make them nicer.

Basically, my quibble with the one x comes down to the bootloader. And I know that it's at&T's fault, but whoever's fault, its a deal-breaker barring a work around. And the battery issue isn't so much about using a spare as it is.with being able to do a hard shutdown or battery pull, for root purposes/problems. I will say that I saw a very comprehensive camera comparison between the one x, s2, 4s and maybe the moto razr. The one x actually performed worse in most of their tests than all the others. And I know just from anecdote that although HTC cameras are nice, I haven't seen one yet that beats my s2, much less the s3.

As far as the s3... the s2 feels like . The aforementioned build quality is an issue. My s1, captivate, was solid. Not entirely, but solid. The s2 feels like . I hate how cheap and plastic and light it feels. From everything I've read the s3 feels even cheaper and tier. It's bull . Samsung makes good phones and plenty of money. They shouldn't be cheaping out on the case. , my s2 didn't even come with a pair of headphones. It's a quibble, obviously, but I find the penny pinching insulting to consumers.

I'm not saying either are bad phones, by any means. But these are flagship lines and thus are subject to scrutiny. And slightly faster processing speeds and meaningless megapixels aren't very enticing, to me anyway, when the phone either has a locked bootloader or a cheap, flimsy case.

Mainly, I'm just disappointed. I.would have held out for either phone if I felt either was a significant upgrade over the s2. I guess I just feel like it's an indictment of the industry that each successive generation barely brings anything substantive to the table.

The is starting to feel like Madden or call of duty. As a consumer I resent feeling like I'm behind the times for superfluous reasons. I'd rather these phonemakers produce less phones, less often if each successive generation were to represent a truly new benchmark. As it is, I feel like we're being played.

I was considering maybe taking a look into this phone if I were able to sell my S2, but the NA version only has 16GB?? What the ?
