Well I was off by about 180 degrees with my game six prediction that the Lakers wounded pride alone would be enough to drive them up their play. I'll just dive right in on the bandwagon. Nuggets win. The combination of MWP's return and Kobe and the press breathing down their necks will get the Lakers out of the gate early. The Nuggets momentum will be too great to completely erase and the Lakers will hold only a slight lead going into the half. The Nuggets come out on fire in the third while the Lakers come out just flat enough to start the downward spiral. By the time that Brown gets around to calling the first time out of the half the Nuggets will have taken the lead, the boos will be raining down, and fates will be sealed. Kobe will try to do too much, Pau will go White Swan, Bynum will cripple Ty Lawson, and MWP will snap and do the impossible: beat Javale McGee into a state of even deeper re ation.

I don't believe it. Even a half-assed Laker team doesn't blow a Game 7 at home against a team with no real superstars. This Nuggets team isn't remotely up to the challenge of playing a Game 7 in Staples. They'll be like 3 for 28 on their jumpers, because it's hard to take good shots with both hands wrapped around your own throat. Lakers by 20.

Really pulling for the Nuggets, just so that Bynum can never live that statement down.

Wheelchair Pierce: "We ain't coming back to L.A.!" during game 2 of 2010 NBA Finals.

That is one and done and will have nightmares about that statement for the rest of his life

Denver's only 8 for 22 when they trail at halftime, I don't see them winning if they're down by more than 2 or 3 buckets at the half. They have to come out of the gate strong if they're winning a Game 7 at Staples.

Magic: Mike Brown, Bynum & Gasol Are Gone if Lakers Don’t Win

In one of his boldest statements as an NBA analyst for ESPN, Magic Johnson said that if the Lakers do not win Game 7 against the sixth seeded Denver Nuggets, there will be a cleaning of the house that is reminiscent of 2004 after the Lakers were killed by the Detroit Pistons in 5 games.

“They’re going to run Mike Brown first out of town….Then second will be Bynum. Then third will be Gasol.”

With the lackluster play of the Lakers big men, Mike Brown has to take partial responsibility as he came into this season to help the Lakers transition from a perimeter-oriented offense to a more defensive minded, low-post team.

The year started off great as the Lakers were one of the top defensive teams in the league, but after the All-Star break, the Lakers defense started to falter back to a frustrating team of missed rotations and lack of effort.

When it comes to the Lakers’ bigs, Magic Johnson is basically venting the frustrations of most of Lakers Nation. Andrew Bynum’s enigmatic play, and especially his behavior, have basically used up all the good credit he’s built with the fans this year. Couple that with his years of knee injuries and you can add running out of patience to the list of Laker fan’s feelings towards the 24-year-old All-Star center.

With Pau Gasol, this is the second year in a row that he has failed to show up in the playoffs. Last year, there were excuses for Pau to fall back on – girlfriend problems, three years of non-stop compe ive basketball, going back to back is pretty good, etc. This was the year that Pau was suppose to regain his 2010 form where he was widely regarded as the best big man in the league.

Now, Magic Johnson is calling out Pau, Drew and Mike Brown on national television. Johnson usually tries to be unbiased while being an analyst on ESPN, but you could feel the anger and disappointment running through his purple & gold veins from seeing what could be a wasted opportunity.
Marc J. Spears: Lakers expected to release statement in support of Mike Brown in light of ESPN NBA analyst Magic Johnson's statement.
