I noticed that, oh well things will never change
"How about San Antonio? 17 straight wins."
"If it's a Miami or Lakers team on a string like San Antonio is doing, people would be talking about it like it's the greatest thing. It's just..it's amazing how they still go under the radar despite their excellence."
ESPN not getting that they're just as guilty as everyone else.
Yeah..I know it's not hip to talk about the Spurs and all that...but don't call everyone else out for not doing it when you yourself are doing the same damn thing.
I noticed that, oh well things will never change
Yeah, they've been making jabs at themselves lately for sleeping on us..I think Israel, Colin, Jalen, Tim, and Stephen are gonna continue to act like gots about it though..will never admit
Yeah, they can not even get the streak right....it is 16 straight.

lol i noticed that as well..looks like the commentators have much more sense than the so called expert analysis
who gives a , ESPN is a horse , sports entertainment business. they're in the business of making money, like all businesses. they cater to the uneducated, casual fan.
skip to 31 minutes into the podcasts, enjoy

Another emo GNSF, what a surprise.
Tim (Legler?) has been pro-Spurs for weeks now. He had a recent video breaking down a couple of Spurs plays and was just gushing about our ball movement. He mentioned that if he were still playing today he'd love to play on the Spurs because of our "team first" mentality. Stephen A Smith has given the Spurs credit for weeks now calling us the "most dangerous team in basketball," although he still thinks OKC will come out of the West, but that's not really an unreasonable prediction.
Israel Gutierrez has already owned up to his boneheaded series predictions and has given the Spurs props for about a week now. He's taken a step back from his amateurish "superstars win championships" take.
Colin doesn't know a lick of basketball outside of the Miami Heat, and Jalen usually offers up his usual ignorant takes, so I'll give you those two, but it's not like everyone from ESPN is against the Spurs.
Plenty of ESPN personalities have given the spurs props for weeks now. You're just not oblivious and ignorant to the praise.
All of the Sabermetrics guys (Hollinger, Abbott) have predicted the Spurs to win it all. Barry, Broussard, Magic, Wilbon all have predicted the Spurs to come out of the west for weeks now and have given the Spurs a great chance to win it all. Thorpe, Adande, Stein have given similar takes.
Marc Stein has written a handful of pro-spurs articles actually, just gushing with praise about our team. Try reading them sometime, and if you're not going to read them, stop complaining. It looks pathetic.
Everyone has articles about the Spurs. You can normally find them in the Insider section under John Carroll's name.
Too soon?
Just win.. At the end of the day who wins the
is all that matters....
Yea, but they're mostly mentions or quick discussion. The articles have been great, but when it comes to TV time, yea they'll give the Spurs credit real quick, then just get back to the show of the hour, Miami or Lakers. TNT does ok, but ESPN sucks when it comes to this.
If you're talking about sportscenter or sportsnation, then yeah, you're right, but there's a ton of other media (podcasts) associated with ESPN.
Sorry you wrote all that, but I don't recall all that ..
Israel was quoted like yesterday he felt it was "fiction" the Spurs were the top team, Cowherd today on his radio show said something along the lines of "deep teams don't win championships, teams with stars do" then said OKC was the top team. I saw Legler asked who he felt was the top team about a week ago and he IMMEDIATELY chose OKC with no hesitation, and apparently Stephen A. actually admitted he's on the Spurs bandwagon now as per another thread on the front page, so I've been corrected there..
..and from the way you lashed out at my post, I don't see a reason, so i'm assuming you took offense of my use of the word " got". Don't worry, Obama supports you.

I know, I already covered that.
Yup. But in that statement they also admitted that they still hate the Spurs, tbh.
The Spurs are so ignored and uninspiring that they can't even get top billing headlines and discussion at halftime of their own nationally-televised playoff games. Case in point: at halftime of Game 2 versus Clippers, all the ESPN studio team could focus on was Wade, Lebron and the Heat. This went the entire opening segment. Whether they ever discussed the first of the Spurs game is unknown to me because I grew disinterested and left the room until the start of the 2nd half.
It's not surprising at all, but somewhat amazing nonetheless that the NBA's hottest playoff team, and the odd-on favorite to win it all, could be rendered irrelevant at halftime of their own telecast.
Older Spurs fans shouldn't mind all this.
It's not only US audiences that matter.
All over the world, basketball players and fans who love good team basketball, FIBA style, fundamental, smart basketball all love how the Spurs play.
Sure, international fans still love the stars, but they know a well run team when they see it.
They don't need hype. Their game speaks for itself.
I agree, I kind of like it when the Spurs are under the radar, I like to have the Spurs leave egg on all of the national media's faces the day after the Spurs hoist up the Larry OBrien Trophy each time.
The only national guys that I like it when the give props to Spurs are the TNT crew, because those guys are the best in the NBA by far.
I'm not buying this 'the media still isn't talking about the Spurs' crap. The Spurs are getting their due from every corner of the NBA media, after every game and through the next day. And they're all heaping huge praise. From Charles, Jet and Shaq, to the NBATV studio crew, to Stephen A., to Legler, Rose, Hollinger on ESPN.com, Skip and the First Take gang, ATH, PTI, SportsCenter segments, and many other pockets in between....there's plenty of due credit being passed around. In fact the only reason they're not the subject of even more discussion is because thus far their first 2 series have yet to be compe ive, so it's kind of hard to come up with something new to say. There are only so many synonyms for "dominating" that they can come up with.
So quit whining and just enjoy the damn ride. Media attention means nothing. Whether the media talks about the Sprus non-stop or not at all makes no difference, the Spurs are still the same team regardless.
They're headlining yahoo now.
"NBA blueprint that beats the Heat"
I'm surprised his ass isn't working for ESPN or something of the sort yet.
Didn't ESPN decide not to renew him for being too much of a homer?
I'd love to see how these media analysts and commentators react when the Spurs are in the Finals. How could they simply cover the Eastern conference team for two weeks straight?
