Toughness? Metta crapped his pants tbh.

Ben Wallace initiated the whole thing and he was suspended for 6 games. I think the suspension was fair because he didn't hit anybody. But imo his shoving off Ron Artest destroyed the Indiana Pacers for the next 7 years.
It's funny how people bring up Ben Wallace all the time to down play Ron Artest's toughness. I think Ron Artest could've destroyed Ben Wallace.
IMO Screw Lose/Crazy Ron is and will probably go down as the craziest and toughest NBA player the league has seen.
Ron Ron is the modern day Dennis Rodman -- crazy and will do anything to get attention.
He'll get Porkins ejected tomorrow. I'll bewhen it happens.
It's curious why Ron backed away from Wallace. I think he could have been fine holding his own. Two big strong guys going at it. But the fact remains, Ron backed off. And that's after Wallace two hand shoved him in the chest and threw a towel in his face, along with all the name-calling I'm sure that was said as well. But a plastic cup from a fan enrages Ron to start swinging on a stranger and a fan? Whether Ron could have destroyed Ben Wallace is irrelevant because Ron backed off but chose to swing on some random fan who didn't even throw the cup. That whole incident speaks for itself.
You probably were following the Pistons run that year, but how did the Detroit media look at this whole thing. I think Larry Brown was pissed at the fans and understandably the Pistons fans took a lot of heat for initiating the incident and i am curious to know if that fan who threw that beer cup at Ron Artest served any sentence?
I remember reading Artest losing all of his salary that season and the Pacers had a very good chance to come out of East. And from watching that video, Ron was to blame, but i think he should've got like 40-50 games. If they had Artest for the post season, Reggie may have a ring by now.
Detroit media was very critical of the fans who took active parts in the incident. Not just the cup throwing, but several fans went down onto the court to confront Pacers players. Some fans were caught on video taking the folding chairs in the lower section to throw at players. IIRC, I don't think any chairs were actually thrown. And of course, popcorn, drinks, and other smaller objects being thrown at Pacers players and personnel as they were walking in the tunnel towards the lockerrooms. The media was very harsh and rightfully so on fans who took part in the whole mess.
John Green is the fan who threw the cup. As far as I know, he was charged and convicted of assault and spent something like a month in jail. He has been banned for life from the Palace.
this was the best season for duncan to win dpoy with both of them out with suspensions...but who ended up winning the dpoy btw?
Man, i wouldn't laugh at that video. Artest could've killed that guy. Jackson & Artest took out a fan on court.

wow.![]()
what a betty crock of ...
I don't know what video you're looking at but after Ron fouled that Ben stepped to Ron and hard pushed him back...He walked right up to Ron and Ron looked him square in the eyes and Ben thought Ron was backing down..Ron was backed up because of the force of Ben's push...and even when he pushed Ron..Ron didn't ing run nowhere he stood his ground and was trying to go after Ben...look at the tape again..Teammates got in the way but to say Ron backed off is just a flat out fabrication in view of the evidence if not a flat out lie..This lie has been propagated by Detriot fans and Artest haters for years...there was a ton of people between Ron and Ben preventing the fight..when the fan attacked Ron with the drink there was no one between Ron and that fan and a agitated Ron went after him..
I saw the tape over 100 times and nowhere did I see run back down from Ben in fact after he fouled Ben he was right in Ben's face...if Ben had any Balls he would have punched Ron but instead he pushes him 10 feet back and then when everyone starts trying to separate them Ben starts acting all wild like he really wants to throw down..He had his chance to sucker punch Ron and the didn't take it...
Listen Jammie it's clear you and most of the posters on this site have NEVER been in a fight or street fight so it's no coincidence that your perspective of what happen is skewed even with video evidence...![]()
Post and embed a youtube clip to prove your claims.
Didn't read got
lol chinamen thinkin they the ....youve never been in a fight or street fight either....anime doesnt count
LOL Artest vs Big Ben when he couldn't even land a clean shot in Artest vs Fat Detroit Fan Who Ran on the Floor.
Are you kidding me? Ben would wipe the floor with Ron... this wasn't "old" Ben Wallace...
LOL best punch of the whole series was stephen jackson on the complete moron who tried to step on the court with athletes.
Those fans deserved to get their ass beat. Wish Ron would've knocked that out cold tbh
that was jermaine o neal. And yes it was the best
If you're talking about the two idiot fans who ran on the court, that was Jermaine O'Neal. And from what I remember, JO slipped or something and barely missed connecting a punch that probably would have done severe damage to the fan had it landed.
As for Ron, when he ran into the stands, he went after the wrong fan, a little scrawny, skinny dude that did NOT throw the cup.
sure as , jackson hit that guy up in the stands. funny, all these years I thought that was jackson (must be the headband)
he did land a pretty gnarly punch even with the slip.
I feel bad for the skinny guy who Ron hit. The guy was probably paralyzed with fear when he saw Artest coming into the stands to come get him.
Something that always amazed me about this brawl though was that Jermaine O'neal punched Ben Wallace in the face at one point and Ben Wallace didn't do anything. It almost seems like Big Ben didn't realize he got punched. That has always confused me.
