Report: Spurs-Clippers Game 4 could be delayed due to NHL playoffs
The Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs will play a Game 4. It's just not clear when.
Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals series scheduled for Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. could be delayed until Monday due to a scheduling conflict with a National Hockey League playoff game also scheduled for Sunday, according to an ESPNLA.com report.
Game 4 of the Western Conference playoff series between the Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Staples Center, would be moved to 4 p.m. Monday if the hockey game between the Los Angeles Kings and Phoenix Coyotes, scheduled earlier in the day at the arena, goes multiple overtime periods and delays the start of the NBA game too much, an NBA spokesman told ESPNLosAngeles.com.
"There's going to be a drop-dead time somewhere along the way because what we can't have is the hockey game ending around 5 or 5:30. It takes two hours and 15 minutes (to change the floor from hockey to basketball), so now that's 7:15, and the teams need 90 minutes to warm up, so that puts you back to a 9 o'clock tipoff."
So I need to gamble of waking up at 4:30 am

So if Kings/Coyotes goes to 3 ot or something, we might get a Monday/Tuesday back-to-back with Gm. 4 in LA and Gm. 5 in SA? Obviously, I'm hoping there won't be a game 5. But if Game 4 gets pushed tonight, what then? Barring a sweep, there almost has to be a back-to-back with a long flight between games.
Probably game 5 will be moved to Wednesday then
Game 4 officials: Joey Crawford (crew chief), James Capers, Bill Spooner
Joey Crawford
In the Duncan era, Spurs are 14-9 in playoff games in which Joey Crawford has officiated (5-8 on the road; 6-3 in conference semifinals).
Joey is a special case in many ways -- but for those who might be wondering, they are 1-4 since 2007; they beat Phoenix in Game 5 at home in 2008, then lost Game 5 at New Orleans in the 2008 WCSF, lost Game 4 of the 2008 WCF at home to the Lakers, lost Game 3 of the WCFR at Dallas in 2009, and lost Game 2 of the 2010 WCSF at Phoenix.
The Spurs were 3-1 in games with Joey in the regular season, winning at home against Utah, at the Clippers in January, at home against Philadelphia, and then losing at home to the Lakers.
The Clippers are 3-0 in the playoffs in games that Joey Crawford has officiated (1-0 at home, 1-0 in conference semifinals. They beat Denver at home in Game 2 of the 2006 WCFR, they won at Phoenix in Game 2 of the 2006 WCSF, and they won at Memphis in Game 7 of the 2012 WCFR).
Road teams are 16-41 in games that Crawford has officiated since 2007.
James Capers
Spurs are 9-2 in playoff games officiated by James Capers (5-0 on the road, 4-1 in conference semifinals, 1-0 in 2012 playoffs (Game 3 at Utah)).
Spurs were 3-0 in games officiated by Capers during the regular season, winning at home against Golden State, winning at Toronto, and winning at home against Utah.
Clippers are 1-0 in playoff games officiated by Capers, winning Game 4 at home against Memphis in the 2012 WCFR.
Road teams are 13-12 in games that Capers has officiated since 2007. Among officials with 20 or more playoff games in that span, it's the best winning percentage for road teams.
Bill Spooner
Spurs are 6-7 in playoff games officiated by Bill Spooner (5-5 on the road, 1-2 in the conference semifinals).
Spurs were 1-1 in games officiated by Spooner during the regular season, losing at Houston in late January and winning in Boston.
Clippers are 1-1 in playoff games officiated by Spooner (1-0 at home), losing at Memphis in Game 5 of the 2012 WCFR and winning Game 5 of the 2006 WCFR at home against Denver.
Road teams are 12-20 in games that Spooner has officiated since 2007.

RT @Buck_SA: Spurs will be on phone with NBA, but have been told: If they are still on the ice after 4 (PST), game delayed. After 4:30, ...
Relax, the Kings got this.
Series ends tonight.
Ugh...Joey Crawford...the Spurs better blow out the Clippers tonight so the refs are not a factor.
Finish them!!!
Don't blame you there...
if you were to put something up and we were to lose a game, everyone would look for you.
4pm monday are you kidding me
I believe it's LA time, so it would 6 PM SA time.
Well I guess there's not anything wrong with that..
*Walks slowly with back turned to the wall out of this thread*
It will be the closest game of the series, but I say Spurs win 91 - 87.
By playing in Game 4, Tim Duncan will tie Robert Parish for 11th on the all-time playoff games played list at 184.
Tony Parker will tie Jason Kidd for 35th all-time in that category with 146.
Looks like we'll start on time.
Good I can go to sleep after that Indy game and be back at 4:30am
