    Well, positives:

Brek Shea, Boyd, Corona, and Adu in spots. Agudelo before he got hurt, too.

Diskurud didn't do himself any favors for getting to the main team, IMO. Not sure I saw one good service from him off a set piece in any game.

How many USMNT players did you have on that team? I wouldn't call it "choking" just fail.

16 Choices named for May Camp/Friendlies/First two WCQ.

No need to read to much into the omission of players who are still playing (Herc for example. Will probably be called up after Mexican finals. Jozy probably falls into this camp as well in addition to non-RSL domestic-based players as RSL is off this week so those guys were available. Gooch has Portugese Tournament, so he might miss)

Goalkeepers: Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)

Defenders: Carlos Bocanegra (Rangers), Edgar Castillo (Club Tijuana), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover), Alfredo Morales (Hertha Berlin)

Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Michael Bradley (Chievo Verona), Joe Corona (Club Tijuana), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim), Jermaine Jones (Schalke 04), Jose Torres (Pachuca), Danny Williams (Hoffenheim)

    Forwards: Clint Dempsey (Fulham)

Notable: Cap-ties for Joe Corona, Fabian Johnson and Danny Williams!

LOL... Terrance Boyd announced on Twitter he got called up... but then wasn't on the list.

And then the big news... Timmy Chandler told Jurgen he "needs a break" from the USMNT. Once again a summer chance to cap-tie him and it won't happen. Might be time to consider him German property.

Boyd will be included when the second group is named later this week.

Sucks about Chandler, but I can see him changing his mind as we get closer to WC2014.

Chandler is a big loss. He was an automatic starter for WC2014. He might not make it in the German squad but I just don't think his heart was with the USMNT. To that I say off and you for your bull quotes about how you want to represent the USMNT.

I'm interested to see what Corona can do with the full national team. How Kljestan keeps getting ignored is beyond me. He just doesn't fit in with Klinsmann's philosophy i guess. Gomez and co. should be called in when the other roster is released.

Well if Boyd did indeed get called up and is on the next list (not sure why he wouldn't just be on this list though) then I think we'll see Gomez and Altidore round out the forwards. We'll see Landon get called in but Wondo gets the cold shoulder. I've got no problems with that even though Wondo is scoring goals at a crazy rate (and for that matter, so is Kenny Cooper).

I think our defense is going to be pretty weak. I guess I don't see a way around that. It sucks.

    Here's your training camp roster:

    UPDATED U.S. ROSTER BY POSITION
GOALKEEPERS (3): Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)
DEFENDERS (8): Carlos Bocanegra (Rangers), Geoff Cameron (Houston Dynamo), Edgar Castillo (Club Tijuana), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Clarence Goodson (Brondby), Alfredo Morales (Hertha Berlin), Oguchi Onyewu (Sporting Lisbon), Michael Parkhurst (Nordsjaelland)
MIDFIELDERS (9): Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Michael Bradley (Chievo Verona), Joe Corona (Club Tijuana), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim), Jermaine Jones (Schalke 04), Jose Torres (Pachuca), Danny Williams (Hoffenheim), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)
FORWARDS (7): Juan Agudelo (Chivas USA), Jozy Altidore (AZ Alkmaar), Terrence Boyd (Borussia Dortmund), Clint Dempsey (Fulham), Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy), Herculez Gomez (Santos), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes)

Here is who I think will mon't make the cut to the 23, and who I think the "A" starting XI is (who I assume we'll see against Brazil and then the first Qualifier)

Not making the cut: Graham Zusi, Chris Wondolowski, Edgar Castillo, Juan Agudelo

    "A" Squad Starting XI

    4-1-4-1

    -------------Howard-------------
    --Dolo--Gooch--Boca--Fabian--
    -----------Beckerman-----------
    -------------Bradley-------------
    -----Landon----------Torres-----
    ---------Dempsey----------------
    ------------------Jozy------------

We haven't seen anyone but Shea (who I think deservedly was snubbed this time) play LM, so it's kind of a guess there. Torres really showed a lot in that creating MF role under Jurgen before he got hurt and all indications would say he's back to form.

It might seem easy to put Edu or Jones over Beckerman as the holding DMF, but I think Kyle has performed just as well as those guys and appears to get some preference from Jurgen.

Manny, there really aren't that many Forwards when you consider he has Landon and Duece listed as Forwards, but we know they will play an Attacking MF role. Would have been nice to see Lichaj, but there are a lot of defenders there already, especially when you consider Johnson is likely to play LB and not MF. Would prefer never to see Edgar Castillo on my national team again, but he's actually played well of late.

Love seeing Herc make his was back to the nats! I see him as first option off the bench for scoring punch. Don't know what Sascha has to do to get Jurgen's attention though. Certainly he is playing at a higher level than Graham Zusi (who I like... but let's face it, he is a qualifier fill-in type guy, not likely a World Cup squad type guy. And supposedly Jurgen was going to call in his A team for this one).

Can't really argue with those cuts. Williams surprises me a little, but he has been a little raw to date. I guess Castillo makes it simply because we don't have a lot of depth at fullback. Hmmm... maybe if we would have called in Lichaj...

Good article that discusses JK reasoning for keeping out Lichaj and others...http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/u...options-052312

Apparently Williams is hurt, so he wouldn't be able to play anyways.

Morales is the raw one and did great for the U-23s before he got called back to his team. Lots of people were saying that they would have qualified for the Olympics if he was allowed to stay through qualifying.
