I dont think any player has been gifted an all-star nod for almost 10 years

No he is not, and he hasn't even been consistently good defensively to even be considered a threat on that end of the floor in years.

The fact that he got another defensive team award is not only a travesty as he did not remotely deserve it, but imo it completely devalues many of the placements he's gotten period. He's getting these awards because of his name. His offense is still good, but his defense has been average for a long ass time. Another award for Kobe off hype and fame, not actual work.

Kobe was even 3rd in MVP voting when he literally had a negative game score impact when he played this year.

    Kobe's offensive rating: 105
    Defensive rating: 106

    A net total negative impact.

Even worse, the Lakers' team average offensive rating is 106, higher than Kobe's, and the team's defensive rating is 104.4, better than Kobe's too. So he literally made the team worse than their average on both ends of the floor. Especially so on defense.

And no, before anyone says it, those stats didn't drop in the last couple weeks of the season when he wasn't playing as much. I actually tracked it because I made the same comment elsewhere, and his ratings were both 105. So all that changed was his defensive rating getting slightly worse. He was already bad.

Kobe, completely undeserving of it yet again.
