Duncan and Dirk would've been Larry Bird/Kevin McHale great (or close to it). I love Manu and everything he brings to the table, but how is this even a debate?

I stand by all of what I said, except the part where I thought that Manu and Dirk where in the same level and that at their best Manu was better (but that's after seeing the last couple of Dirk's seasons) but the way of arguing is just bad, answering to every single comment. And just writing too much.
Actually it would've been way better than Bird/McHale. Duncan and McHale are comparable players in their style, but Duncan is significantly better overall. Dirk and Bird are also comparable, but the margin of difference is relatively small. So overall, Duncan/Dirk beats Bird/McHale.
If the Spurs had him right now, they would be favorites.
140 voted for Manu and 138 for Dirk so far? We'd have been damn near unstoppable with Dirk and Duncan in their primes. Gimme Dirk any day! Even though this is a Spurs board I don't know how the poll can be so close. And even though Dirk's a bit old n busted i'd still want him on the damn team.

Comparing Dirk with Manu has nothing to do.
Dirk is a machine. Disciplined. Great shooter. And he makes his free throws! With Dirk Spurs win it all last year.
