Hubie & Wilbon do the commentary for ESPN Radio.
As a Spurs fan in Dallas I have to watch the game on TNT and I see we are stuck with Marv Albert, a guy whos "use by" date has long since expired. Albert is horrible now and almost as bad as Fratello. I saw SJ talking with Hubie Brown on the side before the game (who does he do the game for?), I sure wish he was doing TNT, he may be older but he's about the best in the business.

Hubie still calls games but for ABC/ESPN. TNT gets the West this year, which is why we won't see Hubie anytime soon either. Also, it is interesting to note that the Spurs weren't even slated to have a game on ABC this year (I know un-freakin-believable!).

I don't remember if they added a game at the end of the season vs Lakers/Clippers but I do believe we finally had an ABC game.
Also interestingly enough and related:

Anybody here know who'll be the broadcast team this year in the Finals?
Wilbon really does play by play on radio? hmm might have to check that out
Marv Albert's great tbh. Then again he also thinks the Duncan era Spurs have been the best professional sports organization around![]()
Marv looked genuinely excited and entertained by last night's game and the broadcast team all agree they're looking forward to the rest of the series, fwiw
Wilbon on the other hand sounds like a realgm forum poster.
Hubie's not bad but father time has caught up to his commentating in the past couple of years. Dude sounds like a broken record and gets players names wrongs like he was Stockton

You couldn't be more wrong. Albert, Brown, and Fratello are the best in the business.
Marv Albert is my favourite commentator
Dead wrong. TNT's Albert and Harlan are definitely the best in the business. They both convey genuine excitement when doing games and make games that much more fun to watch because of that enthusiasm. It's Tirico who's terrible. Breen's not bad though.
Same as it's always been. Breen, Van Gundy, and sideline .
I Beg to differ, I thought Marv called a great game adding the appropriate amount of excitement .
Marv is not that bad.
You people complain either way. Dont like Reggie, dont like Shaq, dont like Webber, dont like Marv, dont like Harlan. Watch the game on mute or stfu seriously.
I miss Bob Costas...NBA on NBC..you just don't see like this anymore...
yeah...man, I miss Costas...![]()
God I miss those games in the dome, almost 40,000 fans, damn.
Video is awesome, but then I heard Stan Kelley
Costas can speak the language. He does his homework, love him for sports.
Albert's voice, there is something about it that I like. But he is a biter of big women butt and wears headgear.
Personally I like Kerr. Even though he caters to the moment a bit too much.
Oh, for all you Costas fans...don't forget THE CALL...it was almost 13 years ago, but it still gives me chills.
"He fires the three...AND HITS IT!!!!!"![]()
Albert's voice is velvet, one of the best in the business. I like this WCF crew right now. It is definitely better than the Finals crew. Van Gundy? Seriously? He was awesome when paired with Mark Jackson for the last few years but now it is just him and Breen and they have lost their magic. Also, during ESPN's telecasts it is hard to hear the commentators, TNT's commentators are much easier to hear.

Marv is light years better than the simpering geek Mike Breen who we will be stuck with in the Finals.
I like Kerr also, Reggie isn't too good but at least he isn't spewing nonsense like Chris Webber.
Heh...I do miss all the "Jacksonisms"...
"Hand down, man down"
"Grown man move"
"Mama there goes that man"
"He's a knock down shooter, knocking down shots"
and my favorite...
"Get in my poster!!!"![]()
Costas is a baseball guy, he was marginally better than the befuddled Al Michaels but that is about it.
Yeah. I did not grow up listening/watching him do the sports broadcasts like you guys did in the US. I think he did the olympic broadcasts for US networks, right?
But watching him for the first time, in the late 1990's, I saw that he was more of an all around, diligent student of all sports, kind of broadcaster, and not a pure basketball guy.
My favourites were Marv, Hubie, Doug Collins during that time.
so many memories. went to both games![]()
You must be just a young kid... Marv Albert has been the best in the business for a couple of decades.
He's like the Michael Jordan of commentating. You probably didn't even get a chance to see Michael Jordan on tv when he won any of his championships cuz you were probably still in diapers, so you wouldn't even be able to appreciate this comparison...
