No I just get super depressed and can't sleep. Kind of like right now.
Pretty much this. It's either that or bitter anger. Never cried, though.

Did they really overachieve considering they beat one mediocre and one good but not great LA teams? That was before they fixed the seeding issues. Suns had a pretty clear path to the conference finals that year.
You're ignoring their preseason expectations and how unestablished Boris Diaw, Leandro Barbosa, James Jones, etc. were going into the season. They lost 3 of the 5 starters from the 2005 team and then lost Kurt Thomas in February. It's revisionist history to act like anyone expected them to even remotely make noise in the West that year. I remember Barkley picking them to finish 2nd to last in the division and ESPN commentators doing similar. Lakers over Suns was the popular upset pick going into the playoffs, but that's beside the point given NO ONE predicted the Suns would have a top 4 seed in the preseason. Them getting the 2nd seed was I agree in large part due to a bull division rule but also due to them winning 50+ games and having the 3rd best record in the West, something no one thought they'd do. It's not like the won a raffle that made it so they got to play the Lakers and Clippers in the 1st two rounds.

Barbosa, Bell, Diaw, Nash, Marion, and James Jones all had a career year. Tim Thomas went from sitting the entire season out to signing in March and becoming a 15 PPG scorer for them in the playoffs most notably the 3 he had to keep them alive against LA. Trying to argue that the 2006 Suns didn't overachieve is a pretty re ed opinion, whether or not that overachieving had some kind of luck involved. The main point of my post was that the 2006 Suns coming within 2 games of the finals was a lot more than anyone could have expected from them.

I think it's one thing to look at unproven guys like Diaw, Barbosa, Jones and Bell and not expect anything substantial from them in November. You are right that in the season previews they were not expected to do anything...but then April rolled around and they had 50+ wins, so it's folly to pretend that they were still looked at the exact same way as they were in November.

I agree that two wins from the Finals is MUCH more than anybody would have guessed in November, but I don't consider them beating the Lakers and Clippers huge upsets or a monumental achievement, considering what they molded themselves into over the course of an 82-game season. Diaw was a stud that year. Barbosa, Jones and Bell were like a lot of guys in that they looked really good in the Suns system and much better than they ever did anywhere else. That ended up being a very good team in a watered-down league where the only elite teams were San Antonio, Dallas, Detroit and I guess Miami, who very good in the regular season but got hot in the playoffs.

I consider them beating the Clippers impressive given they had no to match up against Brand. I fully expected them to lose to the Clippers going into that series. Beating the Lakers in and of itself wasn't impressive, but beating them after trailing 3-1 with Bell suspended for game 6 was impressive. The point of my post was that the 2006 Suns performance was nothing to be disappointed/angry/pissed about. It was in contrast to the 2007 team. The 2007 team had the stars aligned for them and ed up things they had complete control over. It's one thing to lose to a Dallas team that had more talent, it's another to lose because you don't know decade-old rules or because you need to lose HCA before deciding to play Kurt Thomas.

    Nope.

My emotions tend to manifest themselves in anger (throwing the remote, phone, etc) rather than sadness, and sometimes, exasperated laughter, like laughing at Popovich closing out the 3rd quarter with Gary Neal when it was obvious Neal should not have seen another minute on the floor.

Game 7 in 2008 was heart-breaking. Never expected that team to finish 2nd in the West and CP3 having a MVP type season. That was a great season that ended on a home-court choke job against a hated team.

NFC Divisional Game against the 49ers this past season was devastating as well. Thought the game was done after Graham scored the TD and Sproles scored the 2-point conversion. Never expected to see the Niners go 70 yards in 40 seconds. Thought the Saints had a strong chance to win the Super Bowl. The loss stung more the next day when the Giants won at Green Bay meaning the Saints could have hosted the NFC le game.

Never cried over a sporting event. I've gotten agitated over losing tournaments when I could have won, but never cried.

You'd have to be a big time pussy son of a to cry over a sports game
Some people are just too emotionally invested in they aren't even involved with. It's like crying over a reality TV show tbh. I cannot find it in me to cry over the work related failures of multimillionaire HS grads or psychology majors who hit the genetic lottery.

I don't think I watch any ball 'til the Finals

I was 7...I cried like a baby. In hindsight I have no regrets either--being that that was our best chance at a SB win

In '94 i cried when Houston eliminated Phoenix. I was young.

Being from NY, i moved towards rooting for the Knicks in the playoffs and wanted to watch Houston go down in revenge, only to have it happen again. That sucked.

As I've gotten older its gone more towards "anger, smash !" then crying. Suns/Lakers WCF pissed me off way more than the 2006 WCF team did. We were healthy, playing defense, the 2nd unit was unbelievable, the whole team had come together; to lose at the end to that Artest putback while Amare got abused by the Laker's bigs all series long.... I wasn't even mad when he went to NY. Now, the moves they made to "replace" him..... AHH.

Sports fandom is so despressing, frustrating and full of bull . Why do we bother? haha.
