I hear ya, and I agree. Refs suck, NBA is rigged, durrant LeBron is finals ratings heaven, etc.
But spurs should have and needed to overcome the refs. They did it 4 times before. NBA didn't want spurs in any of those finals. Spurs were just good enough to overcome the stern cronies. It's sad and unfair but its reality in todays NBA; if you don't have a huge marketable superstar, your team is gonna have to win a few games 5 vs 8 on the court. You gotta be that much better than the other team, and spurs weren't this series. Can't blame them for it. Can't really blame okc for it either.

I'm not going to watch a league where certain teams have to overcome 12 point (verifiable) offerings to the team the league wants.
Good. More power to you. NBA doesn't care about fans who care about basketball. They care about casual rich fan who pays big money for courtside seats to watch LeBron dunk. And avg Joe who buys his jersey.
So sadly by not watching you'll only be keeping your peace of mind. NBA couldn't care less.
This is very obvious. Maybe the refs ed this game but the Spurs didn't lose the series because of that.
OKC is an even smaller market than San Antonio.
Yeah but they have a huge marketable star in Durant. As good as the big three are/were, they just don't bring in the kind of dough the NBA super stars do.
don't know what to say about this...
Never understood the market conversation tbh. It's about ratings. Obviously thunder heat > spurs heat to casual fan. Regardless, conspiracy or not. Championship teams usually have to win a couple of games in their run 5 on 8.
...overcoming poor officiating is an attribute a championship team must have... is the point I'm trying to make.
Didnt want this to become yet another conspiracy thread.
The refs were horrible, but the Spurs were, too, in the 2nd half
probably shot under 40% for 36 pts for the half, that ain't championship ball.
refs can kill any momentum and give it to the home team just like tonight
dunno about rinals ratings, i be busy watchin euro2012 and tdf2012 instead of this crap
Anyone know how many fouls the thunder had compared to the spurs?
The Market = Ratings
A city the size of Houston for example, automatically gets great ratings just off hometown fanbase alone. Couple that with a another large market on the other side, Stern is already looking at huge numbers between just two cities.
At this level (nba finals) I'd figure it doesn't matter about market size of teams playing. It's a national event. Get the teams in there that the nation will recognize and wanna watch. But whateves.
nba only cares about the US market, pretty stupid for them not to factor in the world global market...even if the nba finals played in 82 games would not even come close to a euro championship football game....
the NBA they have been pissing me off since they refused to budge during most of the lockout negotiations.
Then with the Paul to L.A. , the debacle that is known as NBA Lottery 12', Spurs having to play nearly perfect to even have a shot at winning tonight, I'm just tired of thinking about Basketball.
Book it, the "Hack a ____" will be changed this year, and will be known as the Pop rule. Typical BS.
I'm gonna watch fake reality shows on TruTV, Stern
pretty much same thing
SA was just gassed in the 4Q. They were playing sloppy and opening themselves up to the whistle. Couple of bad calls, but I don't subscribe to the conspiracy BS. SA just flat out didn't have the wind in their sails in the 2nd half.
“In the first half we were running and playing our game, taking it to them,” Jackson said. “Then the third quarter we were like running in quicksand. We didn’t play fast. We slowed the ball down. We let them get back into it.
“Look, I’m not gonna take anything away. Those young kids can play and they’re the better team. But if you look at what happened, we stopped playing. You can’t run from that.”
-Stephen Jackson
Like I said in a previous thread, spurs were unimpeded in previous le runs cause there were no superstar teams in each conference to pair in the finals. If sterns did this every year then people would catch on. Don't be blind dude, you know this doesn't happen every year, makes you sound like a homer to say league tried to screw them like this in every championship run of theirs![]()
rationalize all you want![]()
