Is anybody aware of why 2014 Edward Paris seems completely off the radar? Apparently he isn't high on Texas but I haven't heard any rationale beyond that. Paris already has an insane offer list racked up.
Louisiana native and a big LSU fan from what I'm hearing. Here's a recent photo from Tigerdroppings.

+1
Paris and his family fled New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina and have lived in Mansfield since that point. His uncle, Jabbar Juluke, is the head coach at Edna Karr HS and the family supposedly has ties to LSU's RB coach, Frank Wilson, as well.
Per Inside Texas, 2014 RB Donald Catalon has been approved for an offer. That doesn't necessarily mean he's the priority but I think he's the top choice in Texas so far.
OrangeBloods reporting that 2014 LB Cameron Hampton of Dallas Carter and his family met with Mack last night and he has also been approved for an offer in February.
Updated list of the likely February offers for the 2014 group:
QB, Jerrod Heard, Denton Guyer
RB, Donald Catalon, Aldine Eisenhower
WR, KD Cannon, Mount Pleasant
OL, Demetrius Knox, Fort Worth All Saints
OL, Cameron Robinson, Ouachita Parish (Monroe, LA)
DE, Solomon Thomas, Coppell
DE/LB, Hoza Scott, La Porte
LB, Cameron Hampton, Dallas Carter
LB, Raekwon McMillan, Liberty County (Hinesville, GA)
CB, Nick Watkins, Dallas Bishop Dunne
S, Jamal Adams, Carrollton Hebron
S, Tony Brown, Beaumont Ozen
Per 24/7, 2014 WR Devante "Speedy" Noil of Edna Karr in New Orleans and DE Myles Garrett of Arlington Martin will have February offers.

Floss correct me if I'm wrong, but Catalon is more of downhill runner than Arnett right? I like Perine, but there's enough time to see how he responds to his injury this season before getting serious.
When I found that Benenoch is Nigerian American, I was sold. Tomorrow should be very interesting, Caleb is scheduled to be at an OU camp. If he skips it, I think a commitment to Texas happens quickly.
What's with all this "approved for an offer" crap coming from Mack lol. You either offer the kid or you don't. lol at "approved" for one. Looks like Mack is starting to change up his routine of waiting until after signing day to offer any of these kids. He knows he's losing ground to the rest of the country when waiting around. Just come out and offer early Mack, everybody is doing it.
Approved for an offer = offer
Especially when coming from head coach.
It's an attempt for a loophole so he can tell 2014 kids that don't get early offer -- 'hey, nobody has an offer yet."
Maybe some of them buy it. But I wouldn't.
Good to see you again, Bill.
Yes, Catalon and Arnett have contrasting styles. Catalon is an every down type whereas Arnett is a utility guy at 5'9"/165.
I agree that it's silly. He's offering these kids without saying it but at the very least he's sitting down with them and their families and letting everyone know what UT plans to do. It's his way of fighting off the big programs trying to get a jump on Texas' elite kids because he's stubborn about early offers and there is a lot of negative recruiting going on against UT.
Mack is at a crossroads with early recruiting because UT hasn't performed well at all the last two years and that's given other programs firepower. One of the issues is UT being portrayed as an arrogant and en led program because they're stingy with offers (even though they're not winning games) and think they can offer whoever, whenever and everything will work out. Opposing recruiters saying, "Well, Texas doesn't think you're good enough right now..." and on and on.
Stacking up some victories will cure a lot of these problems but Mack has to be careful because recruiting dynamics are changing and the number of kids willing to wait on UT isn't what it was in the VY and Colt days. The old Mack wouldn't have told 10+ kids that they have offers waiting on them during the summer before their junior year, so I take that as a positive and Mack is recognizing that he needs to attack from a different angle.
JUCO DE Kewan Alfred of Trinity Valley CC is a new name to keep in mind. Major Applewhite was making his usual rounds in Beaumont a couple of weeks ago and stumbled upon Alfred working out at his high school. He recognized him from past encounters so that's how things got started. Alfred has already sent his film in to the coaches and they've requested that he visit Austin on June 27th. He's planning to be there and he's received the impression that an offer will be extended. This is great news considering things are up in the air with Hall and you never know what's going on with Prevot.

Quotes from JUCO DE Kewan Alfred:
"The way it happened kind of funny. I training in my old high school (Beaumont Central). Major Applewhite came in and was recruiting some players in my old high school. I was there working out and he recognized me from senior year," Alfred said. "I gave him my email address. Five days later, coach (Oscar) Giles called me. He said t hey liked my high school tape and he wanted to see my junior college tape from last year. I sent it to him and he said he really likes it."
"According to coach Giles, they like my work ethic, my speed and that I don't give up on a play," Alfred said. "He told me one of his favorite plays on my high school highlight was when the play went to the other side of field. I chased it all the way down and made the tackle, even forced the fumble too."
"Nobody knew I was qualifying. It was a big guess so nobody wanted to take that chance," Alfred said of his recruitment at Beaumont Central. "A lot of schools wanted highlight tape, but I didn't have one until after I signed with Trinity Valley. I liked it here, got a good feel for the coaches, for the team. They showed me they can get people out to bigger schools quickly so I liked it."
I wanted to add that if Texas were to sign DE Kewan Alfred, he would be eligible to enroll in Spring 2013. That would be big with Okafor and possibly Jeffcoat going to the NFL.
Quotes from OL Caleb Benenoch:
"It was fun (the J10 summer camp). It was tough. It was real compe ive. It was a long day, real long," Benenoch said.
"I worked at guard and tackle at the camp and everywhere I went Jake (Raulerson) kind of followed me," he said. "So if I was at tackle Jake was at a five or a nine, and if I was guard he would move down to a three. So we went against each other the whole compe ion. If someone else tried to go against me he would try to tap them out and tell them that's my guy. It was fun and compe ive."
"It was fun. We go way back to NUC (National Underclassmen Combines), so it was like a re-match," Benenoch said. "It was just two really compe ive guys trying to make each other better. It was real physical but at the end it was all fun. I gave him a big hug after and we're good friends."
"He was funny (Stacy Searles). He joked around, but every once in awhile even though it was a camp he treated us almost like he would his own linemen. He would get upset and take his hat off and yell at us," he said. "It was fun, he was a good coach. I enjoyed the time I got to work with him. He's a good coach. He will tell you what you did wrong and he will tell you what you did right too. It was a really good experience for me."
"It was amazing," Benenoch said of meeting coach Brown. "I can't even find a word for it, but he had like a championship swagger about him. Like a charisma. It was cool getting to meet him and talk to him for a little bit. He's everything I expected and then some."
LB Reggie Chevis to A&M. That will be an underrated get for them.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footbal...mBjj5AqyNIPZB4
A&M will take any inside LB at this point but Chevis does have a nice list of offers. I think it is a great get.
With Jordan Mastrogiovanni turning into a pretty strong OU lean, it made this get even more important.
