okay.
I was still in high school when a buddy of mine came back from a big pop festival held in Monterey, all he could talk about was this skinny black guitar player that totally blew everyone away. He said his name was Jimmy Hendricks (or so I/we thought). It wasn't long after that that we discovered who Jimi Hendrix was. He is still the king of the electric guitar. He showed everyone just what could be done with the instrument not unlike Little Walter and the harmonica.
A rarity...
This guy was a huge influense on Jimi. The great Guitar Slim.
This guy first recorded in 1925 and is considered to be the greatest of the early guitar players. He influensed everyone or somebody else who influensed somebody who.....
This tune was covered by Elvis when he first recorded at Sun Studios in Memphis.

One of the best of the lap guitar players was this guy.
This guy won't be mentioned in any best of/essential when it comes to guitar greats. But as you will hear he belongs.

In high school, we all had to read a bio on someone famous then write a book report and give an oral report. Everyone was picking, Abraham Lincoln, Kennedy...etc. I read and gave a report on a book called, "Kiss The Sky" about Hendrix to the teacher's chagrin.
