His father despises LSU. A&M won't lose him to them.
go back in the thread and you will see quotes from his father saying cold day in before his son goes to LSU

Wow. Thanks for that info. Saw he didn't have an LSU offer and my first thought was he's gone if they do. Guess I was wrong

DT Robert Nkemdiche is on the Clemson campus today and there are lots of rumors that he will commit. That would be wild considering everyone has thought he was Bama's to lose. I didn't know this before today but two of his high school teammates have already committed to Clemson.

Another nice update from OrangeBloods on ATH Ricky Seals-Jones. An unspecified family member said the visit went "really well", "everyone left happy" and "Texas is still on top." RSJ met with almost everyone on both the football and basketball staffs and he was also able to spend time with the current QBs and WRs. It was made perfectly clear to him by Rick Barnes that basketball is an option for him should he want to play and the football staff is on the same page with everything. I don't think RSJ or his family were completely sold on the basketball angle before today but Texas pulled out all the stops.

today was huge for the ags, first a couple big commits, then top it off by not having Nkemdiche at bama lsu or ole miss. if bama got him it just would not have been fair

Clemson should definitely not join the big 12.

"Good day at Texas. I just talked to the coaches and took a tour of the basketball campus," he said. "It felt good to be there again. Texas is still No. 1 in my heart."
This kid is a dumbass (for all this basketball bs)

I don't know if this is more meaningful for A&M or Texas, but WR Kyrion Parker (who camped at UT on Sunday) decommitted from LSU. His teammate, CB Tavares Garner, just committed to A&M.

More quotes from JUCO TE Geoff Swaim:

“I think they’re expecting me to have an immediate impact,” Swaim said. “That’s why you recruit the junior college level.”

“Coach Brown talked about that - I’m extremely compe ive. I can’t wait to win at a higher level. I want to be challenged. I want to play big-time football,” Swaim said. “I want to play for a national championship, in front of 101,000 people. Texas is as good as it gets. It’s a huge state with an incredible fan base, where you can win day in and day out. For me, the decision was easy."

Does anyone know how the Nick Watkins visit went?
Quotes from 2014 CB Nick Watkins after the UT visit (24/7):

“I toured the whole campus on Wednesday,” Watkins said. “I got to see all the facilities, the stadium, the practice field, the field house, all the trophy cases and awards. There were a lot of those (trophies and awards), for sure. I also met with the coaches and, you know, just basically saw and did everything there was to see and do. It was really a great experience and an awesome visit.”

“My mom actually came with me on the visit,” explained the Bishop Dunne product. “I wanted my dad to be there, but he couldn’t be because he’s a police officer and was working. My uncle, who happens to live in Austin, went with us as well. Everyone enjoyed themselves. We all had a good time getting to see what Texas had to offer. I know my mom liked it all for sure. She couldn’t believe all the attention the coaches showed me and how well they treated all of us. She liked getting to see it all and liked talking with the coaches too.”

“Coach (Mack) Brown runs a great program there,” said Watkins. “He’s a compe ive coach and he wants his teams to compete at the top level. He’s used to having a winning tradition and I like that. He and the rest of the coaches want to win and they want to put you in the best position to succeed in both football and in real life. They encourage you all the time and push you to get a good education, which is obviously very important.”

“I really enjoyed getting to visit with Coach Akina,” Watkins told Hookem.com. “We had a chance to talk for a while and he talked a lot of football with me. He showed me some of the key things he likes to teach and told me how he could help develop my game. I like his style of coaching and it’s obvious he knows what he’s doing. You can stay at a place as long as he has, especially at a school like Texas, and not know what you’re doing.”

“It’s his (Akina) record that stands out to me,” Watkins said. “You can see all the guys he’s put in the league and you know that he’s really good at what he does. Just being around him puts me at ease because you’re learning from one of the best. He makes his players successful in both college and NFL. That right there is a big deal, because if you’re a coachable player like I am, you can just go in and trust him. You know that he knows best. You can’t doubt him because he has the record to prove it.”

“Right now everyone is pretty much in the thick of things,” explained Watkins. “I have two years to make a decision so I’m no rush. Everyone is on the same level right now. No single school is ahead of another, regardless of what people say or might think. It’s level playing field for me. I’m just trying to take it all in and review my options.”

“Alex (Norman) has told me a lot about Texas. He loves it down there, a lot actually. He loves everything about Texas. He’s trying to push me toward them pretty hard. He tells me all the time that as soon as I get an offer, I need to commit. He says that I’ll love Texas as much as he does once it’s all said and done. He’s a good recruiter for sure. He works hard at it,” Watkins said while laughing.

Just a heads up that there are random tweets out there saying Texas gets a commitment today. I haven't seen any legitimate reports yet to back up those tweets, but figured it's worth metnioning since the last two weeks have been so weird.
