OB reporting that RSJ camp had their three major concerns addressed by Texas and an outside source previously involved with the family has been told to take a hike. They claim a source said expect a commit back to Texas by August, and he is definitely going to be playing basketball as well.

Also worth noting Shuttlesworth over at IT had said they've been hearing positive things about RSJ as well.

As always take with grain of salt as who knows how much is truth and how much is these sites pumping up speculation to get hits.

More quotes from DE Torrodney Prevot (24/7):

“Everyone seems to be recruiting me pretty hard,” said Prevot. “Most schools are doing the same things, recruiting wise. Everyone is showing the same amount of love to me really. Not one school is recruiting me harder than the other. Everybody is just getting out there and push to get me to their school, at least for a visit. Right now, I’m just trying to sort through it all really. It’s a lot to consider.”

“Texas is definitely still a school that I’m interested in,” he said. “They have a great program there in Austin. The coaching staff seems to be very family oriented. Everyone gets along and doesn’t have any problems, which is real cool. They’re definitely one of my top schools.”

“The last time I spoke to the Texas coaches was last week I think,” explained Prevot. “It was right after their camp, so on June 12 or so. I was originally going to attend the camp and I really wanted to, but then my sister’s graduation happened on the same day, so I couldn’t miss it for anything.”

“My plan is to get down there for another visit,” Prevot told Hookem.com. “I will probably take it before the summer is over. I want to see what Texas is really all about and get a good feel for the coaches. I want to know the story behind Texas.”

“The number one thing overall when looking at all these schools is academics,” said Prevot. “I want to attend a college that has a great business management school, so I always look into that. That’s what will give me the best opportunity for my future if football doesn’t work out for me.”

"I’m still going through the process of reviewing all my options,” he explained. “I’m looking at each school closely. First I plan to narrow my list down pretty soon to a top five or ten. I really don’t have like a set date as to when I plan to decide and announce, but I’m pretty sure it will be right around when school starts. It’s going to be coming soon. Sooner than later actually.”

Frankly, we know more about Alfred than Prevot. His frame is already there, he sleeps, eats and drinks football, and he's proven himself against scholarship athletes. Prevot might have a higher upside and 2 more years of eligibility, but Alfred feels like a safer bet. Give me Alfred.
A summer commitment from Alfred gives you room to breathe at the DE position. Things are still uncertain with Hall and you never know with Prevot. You not only get a guy that can contribute immediately should Jeffcoat leave early for the NFL, but he gives the staff the freedom to pursue other DE prospects for as long as possible should they want to do so.

I'm with you guys on Alfred. I hope Hall stays with his commitment and I am not as high on Prevot as many others. I definitely prefer Alfred. As BFLT said, Prevot might have a higher upside and to more years of eligibility, but is that necessary? I mean the '14 DE class looks pretty good, and apparently Texas sits well with Solomon Thomas, Derick Roberson and Myles Garret. I would, personally, prefer any of those three over Prevot.

Call me crazy, but I think if Hall was going to decommit, he could have already done so. There has been ample opportunity to do so, yet he's remained a Texas commit. I like Hall quite a bit. That frame and basketball athleticism scream NFL.

I'd be good with Hall, Alfred and continuing to recruit Prevot. However if Solomon Thomas, Derick Roberson and Myles Garrett all have excellent junior seasons and surpass Prevot as a prospect, Texas should sit tight. As Bloeddyr10 stated, Texas is sitting in a good position with the 3 junior DEs. Thomas and Roberson will be early commits if offered. Garrett will be more challenging, but Texas seems to have a good relationship with him and his coaches. The aforementioned quotes from Garrett certainly don't hurt.

Update on 2014 OL Cameron Robinson who has recently received invites to both the US Army and Under Armour all-star games:

"It's just an honor. I didn't think that would happen. I attribute it to the hard work I've put in over the years," Robinson said. "I'm always trying to critique every part of my game, get better. It's an honor."

"Being all-star games, it will be a chance to have a little fun, show that I can hold my own against some of the best players in the country."

"I tweaked my groin a little bit at Texas. (LSU) Coach (Gary) Studrawa said don't work out, just come. I may go back to either LSU or Alabama in July," Robinson said.

"It went really good. We did some one-on-one pass rushing. They pretty much just told me I showed everything I needed to do (at Alabama). I guess I did pretty well," Robinson said. "The one at Texas went really well also. I think I had a good camp there. Coach (Stacy) Searels told me he liked what he saw. Overall, I had a good camp at Texas also."

"Those are just my top three (Alabama, LSU and Texas). I've spoken with their coaches the most. I have a good relationship with them," Robinson said. "They all three play, in my opinion, in the two best conferences in college football. They all win, have winning traditions and you feel like you're at home. All three have amazing fanbases. I like everything about them, really."

"I work on every part of my game. I work on my pass blocking, my agility, footwork drills, jumping rope," he said. "I'll work on everything. Even if I think I'm good at a certain part, I'm still going to work on it to get better. You can never can be perfect. I want to be well-rounded."

Quotes from 2014 OL Demetrius Knox who will be visiting Alabama this summer:

"Alabama's pretty much my number one right now. I really don't have a two or three. I'm just trying to sit back and watch this season and see how everyone does, but for sure Alabama's number one. They're real big on winning and I really like their O-Line coach and strength and conditioning coach- he's pretty cool. Getting the offer from Nick Saban that day really meant a lot."

"Of all the schools that I've talked to or been offered by, I feel like the offer from Alabama is the most genuine. Nick Saban called my coach up asked him to get me in the room and then he talked to me and offered me right then and there. For a head coach of his stature to come out and offer a sop re at the time, I mean that was pretty cool to me."

I'm still confused at how these guys think a offer from lsu or bama is "genuine"! They have only offered every kid in the top 250...

Believe it or not, we are more informed about how recruiting works than some of the recruits. Also, we always see the end result and can predict what will happen. These guys go through so much emotions they get confused.

I'm sure that he has not followed Saban's recruiting like many of us have. He is just wrapped in emotion about all the pretty things that Saban just told him. We don't go through that, Im sure if Saban sweet talks to me and does his thing he could convince me to become an Alabama fan.

I will say this about SEC recruiting.

The circle of coaches in Texas is a pretty tight bunch, and word gets around pretty quickly. IF an SEC school like Bama tries to pull the crap that they have pulled on kids in the past with a Texas high school kid. They could lose access to every program in the state.

Coaches here are not dumb, they for the most part will look after their kids best interest, if they see one Texas kid get screwed over because Saban finds someone he likes better it will back fire on him in a big way.

The recruiting advantage Texas has right now is due in large part to the job Mack has done with taking care of the relationship his has with Texas high school coaches. He bends over backwards to showing them lots of love.

I have no doubt that Knox's Bama offer is legitimate and committable. He's a top 50-100 national junior. That being said, most of Bama's shotgun offers aren't committable.

24/7 loves their mystery recruits. Texas is searching the country for another WR and they've been in contact with a highly rated prospect from the West Coast. Happy to hear the staff isn't standing pat at the position since Rhodes committed to Baylor.

Quotes from 2014 LB Josh Walker of Gilmer (24/7):

“I’ve heard from many different schools,” said Walker. “I don’t think I have any offers yet, but would have to double check with my coach. Schools that have shown a lot of interest are Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Baylor, SMU and TCU.”

“Right now I have a top four,” Walker explained.. “At the moment, Texas A&M is my number one, Texas is two, LSU is three and Oklahoma is four. I really like the SEC and the style of play there, because I believe it really fits me. So that’s why I’m high on A&M and LSU. As for Texas, they’re a great school and one I think would be a good fit. I grew up an Oklahoma fan, but I’m not too much of one anymore.”

“The last time I visited Texas was actually for the spring game,” Walker said. “I wanted to make it down for a summer camp, but I couldn’t make it due to some 7-on-7 stuff with my team. That’s been keeping me very busy. But when I went down there in April, I had a great time. It felt like home. I felt like I was back in Gilmer honestly. The coaching staff was amazing. Plus the feel for everything was great.”

“After I went to the game I’ve heard from them some,” he said. “I’ve received about three letters and they want to try and get me to come back down there. Coach (Stacy) Searels is actually the one recruiting me for them. He’s spoken to my coaches and everything like that.”

“I really like Coach Searels,” said Walker. “He’s a great coach. I like his personality, the way he talks and what he has to say. He explains everything real well to me and goes into detail about recruiting. He lays it out on how they choose people, how grades are important and all that stuff. He makes everything clear for you.”

“I would love to go to Texas,” Walker told Hookem.com. “If they offer me, it would be a hard decision to make. It would really give me something to think about and I would have to seriously weigh my options on which school I wanted to go to. They’re a great school.”

“One of the main things for me is location,” explained Walker. “I’d like to stay close to home. I really don’t want to go too far off. Next is academics, which is very important to me. I’ve always tried to be a good student, so that’s probably my number one thing after location. The school I choose needs to have great academics. I also want to be comfortable with the coaching staff as well.”

“I just love to hit people,” said Walker. “I love to play defense and hitting people. I’d say I’m a good pass rusher and run stopper, but I can drop back and cover if I need to. Most of all though, I just like to get physical on defense and stop them. Like I said, I love to hit.”

The way I understand the rule is coaches are not allowed to call a recruit until April 15 - May 31st of their junior year. Recruits (of any age) can call coaches whenever they want and talk for as long as they want. Brown is a sop re so Akina shouldn't be calling. There may be a way around this rule if you call the high school coach and the kid happens to be on campus at the time, but I'm not sure on that. Possibly something similiar to the "bump" exception where a coach can speak with a prospect for a few minutes should he happen to see him at school. Not sure why Wilkerson tweeted that unless he just chose his words poorly.
