Come to think, that was probably his best option at this point.
I agree. That phone call with all the hesitations before answering whether or not he "touched" boys or was "attracted" to boys gave strong indication that he'd likely screw up again like that. The phone call was with his lawyer. The prosecutor would destroy him with references to that phone call.
At this point the defense has been so pathetic and unconvincing that a non-guilty verdict means the judge allowed way too many Penn State connections on the jury.
I have no idea how this is still in deliberation.
